Let It Out!What bugs you re this hobby?
I have no desire to ever go blackhole like so many others have done simply b/c of this situation. Once someone does this they rarely if ever make any effort to stay within the cel community, they stop sharing knowledge and/or helping others. The entire cel community ALMOST ALWAYS suffers/losses out once people leave and/or become blackhole collectors.
At some point its time to stop administering CPR to the dead body that is the "cel community". Hard to bring something back to life thats filled with so much venom, anger, and discontent.

I haven't gone totally "dark" because I spent too much time scanning and working on my gallery to throw it all away now. Can't say I feel like adding anything new to it however - can't get a nasty feedback about having outbid a particular bidder on an item if they don't know I have it. A shame it has come to this.

Remember when the cel community was fun?

I haven't been around in a while. When I realized I had a problem with my cel buying I closed my gallery for a short time. I've since reopened it, but it will likely not be updated again. On the bright side, I only have a couple of pieces that I never added. They won't be added any time soon because my scanner has died. Needless to say they are an ending cel from Jubei-Chan and a repro cel from Bleach. I haven't bought anything in over a year, and I'm really proud of myself for that.

Anyway, what bugs me personally about this hobby is the addiction factor. It's so easy to get carried away. Sometimes I sit back and think "I paid $200 for a piece of plastic. I could have paid that on a credit card!" But I don't dwell on it too often.

I'm still around, though. Just because I don't post anymore doesn't mean I can't be contacted.

Hmmm what bugs me about the cel community? Complaints mostly which is ironic as I'm complaining here myself. Heh. When I started I met some pretty nifty people and those I met have stayed friendly throughout. I've not really met anyone repulsive, or as some other collectors have described. I've had a few annoying transactions though, but when I think about it, it's mostly just my bruised ego because I was expecting people to be as nice or be as polite to me as I try to be to them. But first it's easy for things to get lost in translation when you are conversing on the internet, second if it is a business transaction then it's a business transaction, it can be as quick and succint or as bland (or blunt) as it can get. And for the most part, I find that initially it is like that but more often than not after the first few e-mails people do start to lossen up. We all have different personalities and priorities. So nowadays to me it's fine, unless of course someone oversteps their bounds and bash me in public. I really don't like those kind of public bashings because I've had enough of that in other hobbies. Now as for offers, sales etc, I never really think about it in terms of how much my cel is worth, or how much it should go for. I've had a couple of low-ball offers but it wasn't such a big deal to me. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, in fact it might even make me appreciate a cel a bit more. I've had a couple where they kept hinting they wanted something but couldn't pay for it because they didn't have that much money. The answer is simple to me, then I don't sell or I don't accept. I think people will always try to bargain hunt and they should because this is an expensive hobby. I bargain hunt myself. When a person offers very low than what I think a cel goes for and it's unsolicited, I just think that they must really want the cel so bad and unfortunately I won't be the one selling. It's better to wish them goodluck, that way one doesn't do them a disservice as well. Cels will have a market price and a personal value too, but the cel market is also very subjective and the prices are not set in stone. What else bothers me in this hobby? Well the fact that it takes so little to get collectors in an uproar and no I'm not talking about when something wrong truly does happen i.e. back-stabbing, misrepresentation and thievery, but little things like how so and so have so many cels, how so and so is always in the frontpage, how so and so beat someone on an auction, how so and so has so much money to blow. I think that's just jealousy coming through. There's just too many complaints I think and it takes the fun out of the hobby. I only wish for a happy cel day, nothing else.

Oh Gabriel I completely agree about not feeling compelled to add any additional items. Thankfully I only have a few items left.

As for trading Gabriel, OMG... you hit the nail on the head with this comment, "...when someone tries to make a trade...why is it that the trade is always x number of JUNK cels for your one good one, and never the other way around?"!! I've had my share of unrealistic n00b traders, it's kind of sad most of us experience this.

Hajimenokizu, I too wish for just one happy cel day too. In fact I wish a happy cel day and good cel karma for all of us. Cel karma is something I think we all need to pause and reflect on. Cheers!

Lately, collectors who seem to be upping the price or sniping exact cels and sketches from the series that I have posted in my wishlist section. I'm hoping this is only a coincidence this year and not a growing trend. :O(

Otherwise, I have a feeling that I'm going to have to remove this section like other collectors have done in the past. *argh*
