Let It Out!What bugs you re this hobby?
*pops out of lurker mode*
I totally agree, Otakusin! I've recently had several problems with slow-as-molasses shipping, and it is frustrating. It seems to go in cycles. Everything will ship in a speedy manner, and, then, for months at a time, there is nothing but slow shipping or constantly delayed shipping, with little or no email communication. Very. Frustrating.

Good points Gabriel, but conversely when a cel is currently going for the same price if not more than the seller paid (regardless of passage of time), there is no rational reason why the seller should ever entertain lowball offers, especially when unsolicited. Individual situations may differ but generally why should someone sell something for less than they paid when it is worth more in the current marketprice?
I stress for lowball offerors who know something is currently worth much more than they are offering, they are just spinning their wheels and wasting everyones time. Also no offense but your suggestion is completely counterproductive and precisely what I hope others do not do just b/c of noise or challenges involving this hobby.
I have no desire to ever go blackhole like so many others have done simply b/c of this situation. Once someone does this they rarely if ever make any effort to stay within the cel community, they stop sharing knowledge and/or helping others. The entire cel community ALMOST ALWAYS suffers/losses out once people leave and/or become blackhole collectors.

My biggest complaint about this hobby is that it's "acceptable" to be a Jerk. A lot of collectors seem to feel like they're entitled to do any sneaky underhanded nasty thing to get a cel and then gloat about and the rest of the community should accept it becasue "everyone does it". I realize fierce competition is going to be rampant in something so specialized but, I've seen people do and say some downright horrible things to each other in the name of cels and it just disgusts me.
I also have to go with the group and say that I'm really not a fan of the "blackhole" collectors. There are a few A1 End shots I lost auctions for that I would love to be able to see again. I know that for various reasons I've considered becoming one myself so I understand why people do it. But, it's still so disheartening to see some of the choicest beauties hoarded away never to be seen again.
Something that ticks me off is a person who asks for offers on cels, and then doesn't even bother to acknowledge your email. And I'm not talking lowball offers. On several occasions, I've offered around $300 for something, and nary a word out of the seller. I mean, if someone has offered more, that's fine; just tell me.
So I've more or less stopped making offers, unless there's something I really want desperately. Of course, this saves me a lot of money, so it's not all bad.

Heh....oh, I agree. I always thought it was common sense that if you are going to make an unsolicited offer, make it a good one. Otherwise you are just wasting your and their time. However, in the cel community, it often seems that common sense isn't so common, as it were.
Additionally, when someone tries to make a trade...why is it that the trade is always x number of junk cels for your one good one, and never the other way around? ;) Like I'd want to trade the highlight of my collection for a bunch of cels of the back of someone's head plus some eva machine repros. Heh.
