Hate to say it...
The only way to not have your site appear is to delist it first (the "Close Gallery" link on your account).
And, this is exactly why you will no longer see my gallery updates taking up "valuable" space on the RS front page.
Really, at some point, it just gets too hard to please everyone ... and it becomes a lot easier just to delist.
*hugs Tex*
Sorry if I said anything to offend you. *checks back over posts* I didn't . . . did I?
*hugs for extra measure*
I must say, this thread really surprised me.
Personally, I could not care less if my gallery appears on the front page for long or not.
Collecting cels is not a contest, I do not collect cels to show them off in hopes other people will drool over them, I collect cels for me! not for other people.
Like Kitt said; you can get bumped off the front page just as quickly by galleries that updated visible cels, so what's the big deal?
Fact is; you won't be on the front page for long anyway. I recently did a pretty big update of several cels in 6 or 7 categories and I was off that home page so fast I did not even have time to check my own site...lol!
If you really want everyone to see your update/cel, I think you can better post about it in your weblog or announce an update on the forum.
My point is; if you're really interested in the updates people make, or if you really want to keep track of newly acquired cels that might be of interest to you, you can always do a search.
I know I do.
All this complaining on RS lately has made several people I care about decide to close their RS gallery.
I could be wrong, but I certainly think THAT is more disturbing and a much more important and pressing problem than innocent Coming Soon sections. >_<

Just one problem with that, if Jason hasn't run the udate thingy new cels don't show up. Which brings me back to my main point. It's not about gallery show time, it's about seeing cels. And if some are thinking of closing their galleries it's a shame because it amounts to the same thing, depriving people of the pleasure of viewing their cels.
Not a problem for me.
To use an example: I'm highly interested in Escaflowne cels. I can do a search for all galleries that recently updated Escaflowne cels and they all pop up nicely. I'm not that desperate I NEED to see the cels the minute they are updated. I like to browse all galleries at times, just to see what people have.
Not only when they update.
The hidden cels in coming soon sections will eventually be visible too. As soon as the owner receives and updates them.
And again, people are not obligated to show their cels, in stead of complaining why not just be thankful so many people do.
Personally, I am damn glad that people do update and if that means I have to occassionally see a hidden Coming Soon update on a main page I visit twice a day, it's a small price to pay really.
With all these outings of irritation going on I really do not blame people for leaving RS.
