Hate to say it...

See what I mean, I would've missed
Blackmegabyte's awesome update if I hadn't read it here, I don't really have time to look thru all the other update pages, so I just use the front page as a summary, which is why I think it's a shame good legitimate updates are being knocked off...anyway great update, love the Meier cel, very dark and brooding ...very cool!

Yeah, kittens, I know a lot of people do this. That's probably why you see so many "Coming Soon" updates. I understand that it is easy to keep track of your cels this way (you're not the only one doing it, so I'm not picking on you--you're just one of the few admitting it--and that's a good thing, because it lets us discuss rather than just point fingers ^_^ *hugs*)

However . . .

I keep track of my coming cels on my hard drive. That way, I still know what's coming in, but I don't put it up on RS. Maybe that's something that others can consider trying . . . at the same time, I don't want to tell you what to do with your gallery. It's just a suggestion--take it or leave it.

I suppose an "everyone wins" situation would be that any *hidden* updates would not show up on the homepage--but I believe that Jason said that would be difficult to do. If I find the thread I'll post it . . .

Does anyone know if you personally can keep the update from showing up on the homepage? When you add a cel, there is a little box labeled "Password Req'd" on the page where you input all of the cel info and text. If you check that box when you first update, will your gallery show up on the homepage?

EDIT: I found Jason's post. So here are the words of the master:

Yes, if you check the "password required" box when you first add a cel, it will still show on the homepage as a site that has been updated with only hidden content. The only way to not have your site appear is to delist it first (the "Close Gallery" link on your account). That's what I do. However, when you "Open" your gallery again, sometimes it takes hours for Rubberslug to re-archive your gallery, so you may never appear in the update section at all.

Quite honestly, you can get bumped just as fast from the update section by other galleries that all have visible content (since it only takes 6 and there are so many active galleries now). If you have a cel that you are really excited about, I'd suggest posting in your blog about it rather than relying on the update section.

Seems reasonable to me.

Thanks, klet HUGS ^_^ I know you are not picking on me ;) heehee

A problem to save into the desk is that I have just soooooooooooooooo many file b/c of my job's nature... (10 GB pure text files.... ^^;; Seriously not including pictures/music anything! ONLY plane text files..... I use pico or emacs to edit them...) So, I lose easily all these pictures or a record. So this is the best way )or say pretty much only clean way :P :P) to keep a record.....

Yeah I will try to not to show "coming soon" section in the front page. ^_^
