What's the most $$ you spent on a cel?

I haven't been frequenting this forum much lately, but I thought I'd pop in here, and update my previous response to this thread.

When I responded the first time, my "most spent" figure was $500. But ... I have since surpassed that. I now have one cel that I actually spent around $1200 on ... but it was a dream cel of a dream cel for me, and, thus, quite worth the money (which, in and of itself is a scary thought). And, my second most expensive cel was $980. It was also a dream cel.

Although I've passed that 1K "mark", which totally frightens me, I still feel it takes a lot to get me to spend that much on a cel. It has to be a true "dream shot" for me to even consider it.

My new most expensive cel is $450, followed by a $250 cel, then my previous most expensive cel of $140. I still like cute things, but it seems that even the plain cute cels are rising in price. At least my collection is looking a little nicer. :)

I was pretty sure I posted before but I can't find it.. guess I was imagining it. ^_^; But I remember at the time I saw this around May last year, my largest single purchase had reached the $275 mark and that was a large step for me.

Since then I've gone way past that mark and in September I spent around $888 on a beautiful BGC7 Vision opening cel. I think it was definately worth the money though. ^_^

This is a really reassuring thread. Now I know that I am in good company when I go off the deep end on a cel.

My most expensive was a recent rilezu purchase for $600. My only excuse is that (1) it was of a character that I really wanted, and (2) it hadn't been listed as available yet, so I could grab it before anyone else knew about it.

Of course, that meant not as many Christmas presents for the family, but what's important in life?

Weee-haw, I broke my limit!

Just over $270 on a Dilandau cel----- but not just any Dilandau cel! This would have to be one of the most kosher Dilandaus I've ever seen (certainly one of the best posted on Ebay, if not, the most pristine!) why?:

-Key Cel
-Pre-scar expression
-Multi-Layered
-Comes with FX layers
-Comes with ORIGINAL matching background
-Comes with Matching Sketches
-From a key scene (right before the Escaflowne mysteriously blows up in his face and he gets his scar)


Not only that but as bonuses:
Everything is unstuck, no line fading,
and has been stored in a PVC, unexposed to sunlight, booklet for 3 years (it was a gift to the previous owner, who knows where it came from before then, purchased from either the internet or a convention).


Kosher. For a Dilandau cel today, I find a combination of that kind a rare catch... totally worth to make this exception. I'm probably never going find another cel this intact again.
