who's outbidding you?
Well since I've fixated on Angel's egg for a while now I get almost no American competition. Sadly though, the series also attracts collectors who are much more focused and have very deep pockets. I tend to win only when the auction goes unnoticed, it happens sometimes because the auctions are so rare people forget to check.
Because of the series I collect, my competition tends to be Japanese. There are a few American collectors I go neck-and-neck with...but they tend to win. In general, I've found that the Japanese collectors are willing to spend much more on "mediocre" cels, while the Americans are willing to put forth INSANE amounts for top-shelf shots.
For myself it is always the same collectors, I even managed to keep a listing of how often now... it really isn't a pretty sight.
Well, for most of the past year I've been just going straight to the seller that sells my Ichigo.
It was "be there with the email all prewritten with space for the genga set and price to be filled in" the second the updates popped up.
The fastest insane nut to get that email in, wins! O_o
And I didn't really miss out very often. <.< heh heh *nervous laugh*
Since I rarely see the ones I missed out on from there, my guess is Japanese buyers. But there are a few here too that have snagged some Bleach that I was looking at. ~_^
But for the most part? I'm pretty clueless.
I get that sparkle in the eye, and can't see anything but the end product. XD
And hey, if it goes to someone with a gallery that I know of, and I can visit it.... it's all good. ~_^
('cause then I can stalk it! wahahahahahaha!)
It's almost always a small group of Japanese with big pockets, and we often go after the same stuff. Tough on the wallet...
Also, for some reason, I try to avoid bidding against other deputy services. If someone's already staked their claim on a cel that I like, I'll most likely let it go.
