The Official Ban Request Thread
Just so the other side of the story is expressed, I for one don't think that we need to be leniant on people who make bogus galleries with a lot of stolen cel images or screencaps, I think they should be banned without hesitation. As for people who don't know what animation cels are? I'm sorry but, how the heck did they even get here? Wherever they came from they should be sent back. If they get a clue later and decide to try again with making a cel gallery following the rules then, more power to them. But, to leave up the bogus galleries even on a short time limit would negatively affect the quality of the site overall.
I just wanted to let Jason know that not everyone has the same 'give them the benifit of the doubt and all the knowledge they should already know' opinion.
I know that I have brought this up before, but new people that register or sign up here to RS and select to create a gallery should be faced with a page of "education" before they dip their proverbial wicks into the ink divot. A simple but albeit very clear explanation page for them to "have to" acknowledge and check off in a box someplace, that they've understand the terms and conditions of becoming a full-blown gallery owner and "production work, anime cel work, anime artwork" provocateur, before they tripped down into the rabbit hole.
I couldn't agree more. There would be no reason for any image galleries or stolen cel galleries to exist if you were to implement such a measure.
I think it would be very worth it and save your mods a lot of time and stress, as well as saving you bandwidth/space.
Maybe you could even point out (on the same "Terms of Use" box/page) that there is a forum where they can post any and all questions BEFORE they decide to fill up a gallery with garbage "on accident."
It seems we forget that the hobby of cel collecting is ment to be fun.
I believe Jason went through the trouble of setting up Rubberslug to allow like minds to meet and experience the same joy of collecting he has.
As he stated earlier he would rather a new collector have a good experience rather than be turned off. If some additional education is needed in order to acomplish that I feel it will be worth it.
To that end I would be willing to put my time where my mouth is. If Jason would like I would be willing be an advisor to new members and assist in educating those who need some help.
I would also be willing to help in any way I can.
I've bought and sold Thousands of cels of all types over the years and I would be willing to share my insite into the areas I know about.
Info should always be free to someone who wants to learn new things. We all had to learn somewere and I don't think there is a better way to learn about all types of anime, manga, ect than here on Rubberslug were so many different types are on display for ALL to see and more important talked about.
Knowledge is power that should be shared by all.
Enough said, By me.

We most all remember at one time we knew nothing about cels. Each of us has experienced the Greenhorn time when we didn't understand this wonderful hobby.
I feel we should try to help others who wish to learn about this.
How many have won that cel only to learn to our disappointment it was a reproduction. Or worse in that time of inexperience to won a beauty than found out it is a fake not even a good reproduction.
I feel this site has helped me to understand better the cels I love. I have not developed into an expert by any means but I feel happy I can post a question here and be answered in clear and mostly polite terms what I have on my hands.
Let's try to help expand the collected knowledge base here.
I for one am Thankful I found this place as my website knowledge is meager. RubberSlug has become my home where I can go into other's galleries and see that cel that might be from the same second of my own. It allows me to search out new series that I found the artwork to be beautiful.
Thank you Jason for this lovely home.
Please try to give newbies the benefit of the doubt.
