That reminds me. I need to add a "smite" button that's not really a "ban" button but it would allow mods to close galleries instead of ban them outright.

Right now, there's really no middle ground... and there really should be. As has been mentioned a few times, a lot of people don't mean any harm, they're just unaware of the concept. I'd rather have +1 new cel collector instead of +1 person-who-thinks-we're-just-mean-for-the-fun-of-it.

Because we're not. Seriously.

Jason I can't aggree more.

I would hate to blow off a newbie who with a little education may become a solid member.
A case in point, You intervined with Kc_doz temporarly shutting down Casey's creations gallery. Now through Roy at backlotanimation and myself Casey is actively working to correct the gallery's problems and get real cels up for display. Kc even started a new forum post seeking info on how to purchase cheap cels.

I feel that the ban should be used on blatant violations and repete offenders who just don't get it. Some discretion is needed, taking into account how long a person has been a member should be part of the deliberation.

A very simple problem that can be fixed with a "read me first" page for new registrants.

I know that I have brought this up before, but new people that register or sign up here to RS and select to create a gallery should be faced with a page of "education" before they dip their proverbial wicks into the ink divot. A simple but albeit very clear explanation page for them to "have to" acknowledge and check off in a box someplace, that they've understand the terms and conditions of becoming a full-blown gallery owner and "production work, anime cel work, anime artwork" provocateur, before they tripped down into the rabbit hole.

I don't know how many times we've (as moderators, admins.) have discussed this. It just never got done. I have locked and dusted off so many possible potential gallery owners, kooks, jerk-offs, and weirdo's, that I've lost count after a hundred. I feel like any good soldier. I prefer more than anyone, not to fight. I know what it means to zap, and zap, and zap again.. It is not cool. A lot of it could have been and still could be prevented with some preventative medicine.

Sending someone to the tool shed is sometimes needed but, I as a new member would have liked a Bogus gallery page to see Examples or specimens of art that is not to be put up on this site pics always work better than words anyday in my book.
The "read me first" idea sounds like a winner to me.When I first signed on to this site I read everything you guy's wrote to find out what you are all about,But I had to read everything to find the info that I was looking for, A one page sign on sheet would have been nice and maybe a link to a Bogus gallery that has examples or explanations of banned stuff.
I think this will save you guys alot of extra work with the banning stick.
What about a newbie time limit on new folks to get there sites up to snuff if not, Then go to the banning stick.
I'm new here and these are just my observations of what I think may work but you guys have been here alot longer than me.
I like this site very much and I would like to see other new folks enjoy there RS site also even if they are newbies to cel collecting. If they follow the rules.
I have collected cels for over 25 years but my Knowledge of Anime is somewhat limited, I'm very happy that alot of RS folks helped me with the names and show ID on some of my cels and I think that with all the folks here on rubberslug, We could come up with a few that would go to the newbies pages and let them know thru there feedback links what they need to take down from there site so they don't get Banned before the site newbie time limit runs out.!
After all this is what this site is for right?, To look at and learn about cels from shows that you may have not seen, Like having your own archive of anime at your finger tips.

Just A few thoughts.
