WARNING: Counterfeit Cels

cutiebunny,

Thank you for posting this email from GoG. This is the first response from him I have seen since starting this forum. It is interesting to read his interpretation of events. I do however believe that parts of it are slightly exaggerated and aren't entirely accurate. He also left a lot out. For example, i'm not the only person questioning him about the authenticity of these cels. I'm just the most outspoken.

He can hide behind his "Mr.Nice Guy" persona all he wants. It's not going to change the fact of what he was trying to do.

You know, I think what i'll do is actually post the email correspondence between GoG and myself so everyone can see how this came about. I have nothing to hide. I do get a little tempermental at the end of that last email though. I tend to get mouthy when I get mad. I'll post those soon.

Starfighter,

I really don't want to fight and argue with GoG. Just as GoG stated in in his email to cutiebunny, I did cut off communication with him about two years ago. He had done a few things that I deemed "questionable". Most of the people in my group of cel collectors know this. I was content not having to deal with him. But then recently he actually acquired what I believe to be "fake cels" and started trying to either sell or trade them to other collectors. And thats what started this whole mess.

And honestly starfighter. What is it going to take to convince you that he has been doing something questionable again? I think I have provided more than enough evidence in this forum that something is going on. Have you even read and comprehended any of the other posts that I have made? Because I don't think you have.

I tell him i'm going to warn other cel collectors about these fake cels and I make this forum. So he then removes the cels from his gallery. Since he is insisting that they're legit, why do that?

I post a link to the Snake Eyes cel that was still listed in his gallery. The same one that was up on ebay that I think is fake and originally came from him. It actually has the WRONG colors painted on it. He then removes that cel to.

I provide proof of him bidding on the same Snake Eyes cel himself in order to up the price because I believe he is the actual seller of it also. But you're over looking that proof as well.

He doesn't respond to my accusations in these forums because he most likely wouldn't have a good answer for doing the things I just listed. If he wants to prove that the cels are legit then put them back up.

All of these sound like the actions of someone with something to hide. If he wants to prove me wrong then prove me wrong. If I am then I can admit it.

starfighter, I hope you're never on a jury.

Okay, dudes and dudettes, here's my reality. It's 2 AM. I have a massive product demo due that pays the bills that keep this site up. I can't deal with drama right now.

Everyone. Chill. The f!@#. Out.

I don't want to delete the thread because it is way more civil than I was led to believe. I can blown this thread away in two seconds rather than post this. I'm keeping it for now because it is educational and it does raise important questions.

Mace: I wouldn't trust a ~25 year old VHS dub of a grainy analog source to determine if colors are right or not. Color grading isn't necessarily linear here. I welcome corrections on that statement from anyone who works with old video on a professional basis.

Guardian: It *really* looks like you're bidding up your own stuff, authenticity aside. I don't want to believe this is true. Can you kindly explain what the heck is going on here for everyone? It *looks* bad. I think it's a fair question to ask.

I appreciate that we all know that the spirit of cel collecting is, "TRUST BUT VERIFY."

Sometimes, mistakes are made. Most bad things in life are accidents, not malice.

No one should ever be alarmed or insulted when someone asks if something is real or where they got it. All of you are extraordinarily knowledgeable and that's awesome.

So, 1) keep it civil, 2) accept the possibility that you (any of you, all of you, whatever) might be wrong, and 3) take care of each other.
