Let It Out!What bugs you re this hobby?
Dealers who never respond to your order if they've already sold the cel but not updated their site. It's rudeness and poor professional practice!
There's a cel I want from one dealer who's treated me this way but I'm really been put off dealing with them. Still don't know what I'm going to do.
I agree with what many folks have already said.
My biggest peeves are as follows:
Folks that don't respond to offers. It's OK if you don't want to sell it, but but a polite e-mail response would be appreciated.
Dealers who keep sold cels on their site indefinitely. It's ANNOYING.
Dealers/Sellers who NEVER LOWER THEIR PRICES, even after a piece has been sitting around for months (or in some cases, YEARS). It just makes people angry that you're too stubborn to take a loss on one or two items, when you're currently gouging the public on pieces from popular shows.
Fellow collectors who feel they are the ONLY ones that have a right to purchase artwork from any given show. That's just snobbery.
Ok, this has recently happened to us and since it is on topic figured we'd share. We've been in discussions for months with a dealer to purchase some cels. We committed to buying these cels and they agreed to sell, then *POOFY* no more communications at all! Figuring technical difficulties so we reach out and email to follow up, nada. *water drops forming over heads* Odd, well then we call a few times, also nothing. So after six months we have finally given up on this dealer. So our newest peeve are sellers who just do not maintain communications. Has anyone else experienced this with other sellers (individuals or dealers)? Kindly share your experiences. Thanks! =)
From individual collectors this has happened to me (no problems with dealers yet, in fact I like the ones I do deal with). I can get quite aggressive trying to get an answer too because I want to make a decision to write off a cel to experience or of course to buy it. I don't think it's too hard to give an honest answer in a reasonable amount of time since I do practice what I preach. I don't like being ignored if there's been communication exchanges already. Although I make exceptions, when I experience this with someone I am very hesitant to make any future dealings with them and probably write the cel off. There is always something better anyway. No true loss to me.
Forgot about your reply KIZU, sorry about that! =(
We agree it is definitely reasonable to expect a reply to a cel decision. You said it best, "I don't think it's too hard to give an honest answer in a reasonable amount of time..." It is odd but at times we know everyone is busy but a reply just confirming a deal is going ahead or for whatever reasons stopping is always appreciated.
We've learned from experiences like this the importance of follow up and letting go. How about others?
