Well I'm just here to post that I have to negate the post earlier referring that sending cash through the US Mail Service is against the law. It is not if your send it within the U.S. DOMESTICALLY, you can even read about it on their FAQ website. The "Illegal to send cash through he mail" is a myth/urban legend. Here's the real deal. Though it's still not smart to send cash in the mail!

"Can I mail cash domestically and internationally?"

"You may send cash through the mailing system domestically. However, we recommend using personal checks or money orders when transmitting funds for any reason. If you prefer to send cash you should take advantage of our registry service, which provides maximum security and indemnity against loss.

You may send cash internationally as long as the particular country does not restrict cash or currency. Check the restrictions for each country in the International Mail Manual or International Rate Calculator."
