Transformer Cel Warning

Wow, okay, so there's 2 cels that look exactly the same, as if they were painted from the same sketch. They're both labeled A3. They both came from the same seller. Neither one matches a movie screencap. The original seller in question has a history of selling cels that do not match up to screencaps. This is not jumping to conclusions, this is taking a lot of evidence and making an educated guess.

I am willing to accept the fact that there are some cels made in the production process that do not make the final cut of a television show or movie. However, it is veeery suspicious that one person would end up with so many of these cels that have been edited out. Also, why have two cels that look exactly the same that are both edited out? You may argue that they were testing color or something (which, btw, is a completely different argument than that they were edited out), but it is impossible to tell unless both cels are in the same place at the same time. Then we'd see if the colors match or not. But even then, it's impossible to tell. It's a key scene, so it may have had a lot of testing cels up until the ones actually used in the movie. But also, it's a key scene, so it is very tempting to counterfeiters. Usually, wrong colors means that the cel is fake.

This seller was brought up on RS forums before, when he was selling GI Joe cels on Ebay that looked a little suspicious. He never posted publically on the forums; rather, he chose to email a couple people and then got offended when one person posted his comments so others could read them. While it's understandable that you don't want private emails made public, at the same time, it's suspicious if you refuse to say anything when your integrity is called into question. EDIT: Btw, I mean GoG, not the ebay seller in the first post. Just realized it might be taken that way.

I suppose, in the end, I'm just appalled at the apparent lack of morals I've seen by some collectors. People selling, such as GuardiansofGood, who refuse to even consider that their cels may be fake (or perhaps he knows) and then sell them for large amounts of money on Ebay. Someone just paid $2600.00 for the cel in question. And the problem is that it *is* in question.

Who knows, maybe both cels are real. But right now, I personally would feel that there is too much in question to consider selling.

Ouch! sad to see the seller and ebay winner got ripped off.

If i'm correct Transformer was done by TOEI Animation.
Correct me if i wrong here.

The cel doesn't look like a pre-production cel.
TOEI did some pre-productions cel but those are looked always same like the original cel.

If you look closely it doesn't show those signs that some other production cels showing made by TOEI back in the 80's.

Somehow the cel says me it was drawn in the 90's.
If i look at the lines and the cel structure.
Maybe the scan is misleading.

At least the cel was never used in the production.

Do you know the exact route of the cel?
All the names of the previous owners before it was owned by GoG?
That way it can be easily found out if the cel is fake
or a test cel.

But since there are 2(or maybe more) A3 i would say like the others the cel is fake.

If it was produced by Toei, does that mean that it would be prone to line fading? Sailor Moon cels, produced in the 1990s, are notorious for suffering from line fading. If the same ink was used in the 1980s for Transformers, wouldn't the lines also fade?

I just buy cels that i can match up in the actual show or movie, if it matches the scene and has sequence number also it generally has a fade or a chip then thats good enough for me if people want to contest it ill show them the douga sketch with cel and show them the scene and if there is still doubt then what ever im happy that its legit and i love my cel, I also dont sell them once i have them so meh..... I also dont pay $1000 like some hmmmmm i dont want to be mean so some people pay a little too much for something that simply is not worth that amount unless ofcourse its something that 50 people bidded on to get if 2 people bid on a cel or one for that matter and get it un-contested then every one else who tries to sell their cels of similar images in the same movie for $700 can suck a fart because they piss me off, i purchased two tomoe cels from Samurai X OVA and they are the sex scene cels i paid $59.99 for one and $105 for the other people here wont sell her standing looking into blank for less than $500 also my cels came with matching sketch, numbered, beautiful condition abit of age wear on the sharp tips of hair etc not really noticable and also i matched it perfectly to the screen shot of the movie, also an enishi cel that on RS it seems one person has one of him as a child well now i have one too he seems to be exceptionaly rare..... price paid? $49.99. Having said all this i was just in the right place right time and my time zone allowed me to beat any sleeping american bidders lol given i was still prepared to pay upto $250 for each cel since my chances of getting one on rubber slug for under $500 is 0
