Transformer Cel Warning

I'm of the opinion that the seller likely doesn't know anything about any of this, but perhaps someone should contact them ^_~.

Hey there,
the Prime's cel on ebay belongs to me !! Sorry for the inconvenience, I forgot to remove the same cel on sale here on rubberslug !!
So, I know that there are only 3 cels around the world of these, one belongs to me, one to "Toyboy's Cel Block", and another, used for the Movie, which belongs to "Animation X" here on rubberslug !! I was able to convince "Guardians of Good" to sell me the other one he purchased, which I also understand came from the person who worked at the studio,  same source as the cel Toyboy has. If you are not been able to match the cel to an exact from in the final cut of the movie, it does not mean it is a fake !! This is not unusual though as they often animated extra frames that weren't used.

Mine originated with Frank as well. Seems like we have a common link. I believe Frank was called out here a while back by some other cel collectors as having other "non-production" stuff. Beware to all.

Even if there were extra frames animated, they would've used the same cel colors and shading as the rest of the sequence. When you look at the screenshot from the movie, it's pretty obvious that the two other ones are merely nice looking fakes.

You got burned. I'd talk with the person you purchased the cel from, cause right now it looks like they are more than happy to unload known fakes onto their fellow collectors while reaping a hefty profit.

Cel collectors whose focus is on production are always concerned with the possibility that they are not getting the real deal. These forums are a venting ground, but I refuse to be pulled into these discussions as everyone has an oppion ... but nobody really knows ... so whats the sense of debating it with them. The cel may even have been test footage, a mock up or a deleted frame before the final footage was animated. Also, sometimes the original animators created cels for Books or advertisements to promote the movie. This was an option too. All I knew is it came from a collector in Japan who worked at the studio and he had pre-production and production cels so it was part of the overall Movie process.
