Poll: Top 10 Issues

Howdy.

Working on the current site this weekend for the first time in a long time. I should be able to work on features and any outstanding e-mails tomorrow (Sunday).

I would like to ask you folks... if you could change something about this site, what would it be? List one thing, list a few things, or list a dozen.

No guarantees of any kind that the popular suggestions will come first (or if they'll be worked on at all) but it's been a while since I've had a chat with most of you that I'm probably a little out of touch.

Putting "I wish noisywalrus would write back already" will hurt my feelings. I'm working on it! Anything else is fair game.

Here are my favorites:

Some of my old suggestions come from a "moderators" point of view, so they may be tainted (*tongue in cheek*) and dry.

Top Ten:

1.) Make it harder to register. That is, place "e-mail" addresses in auto-checking mode when signing up, if possible. People should at least give a proper e-mail address when joining.

2.) Keep news out front more "up to date" or have some elected "editor" do it. Every two months is not "news". It could be re-titled "administrator updates". Or you could just drop it all together.
"Special announcements", maybe..

3.) Do something with the title bar buttons that have "shop" and "news" on them. Or drop 'em altogether until you they can really be acted upon. Otherwise, the revolving question, "When can we sell? When can we sell?", will persist.

4.) "Gallery Updates" pages surely need expanding to accomodate the sheer numbers of gallery updates everyday. Three (3) updates out front, and ten (10) inside are not enough these days.

5.) Forum image (jpg.) uploading?

6.) Make some polls, quizzes, something fun,..that display stats to answers or something fun and interactive. A tough one ?

7.) Improve the "Search" features. Old news.

8.) Maybe split the site in half..how big should it be anyway? How about an RS "junior" site for DBZ collectors, and this one here for the rest of us? ;-)

9.) Some downloadable anime games ;-)

10.) The best for last?
Put like a real sexy anime babe cut-out "logo"out front..next to the RS label.
That has to be the most important point out of my top ten. (*smiles*)

hmm definitely the e-mail verification issue It gets frustrating when your looking for fun new galleries and you click on empty pages, if you had to at least give a valid e-mail it would cut that down a bit.

the polls sound fun........I nominate E to come up with Ideas ^_~

I would like a link to the forum from the individual home pages

also instead of making the update page longer why don't you just make a "these are all the galleries that have updated in the last 24 hrs" page that is in list form (like the search results page) that way you can have the recent updates with the banners and for those who are more interested or looking for their friends' galleries can see a broader list.

Well I doubt I can get to ten, but here it goes:

1)Make it where you can delete a series from your drop down menus in your gallery.

2)Expand the "Gallery Updates" page =)

3)Search Option for Wishlists.

4)Option where you can put your Wishlist items in certain order.

->I think we already had a decussion about the last two, but I put it anyways because it would defintally be a benefit to the site.

5)Umm... Why are there two "Anime For Dummies" Galleries?!

6)Gallery of the Month?

It's going to be quite a while before any of the new stuff comes out, so I'll probably work on some of this old stuff just to make it look like I'm still alive.

Realistically, the poll thing was a half done feature that just needs me to write up the HTML for it that makes the colored bars and stuff. Database-wise, it's done.

I'll vaporize the news and put 5 thing on the front page for now. I really don't want to make the front page more time-consuming than it is right now to download.

Not to mention that wayward contest of ours that I've never judged. I'm such a jerk. The figurines are still unopened, on my desk, everyone. I didn't lie! I do have a real, honest-to-goodness prize here.

The news thing was supposed to be a combination of RS updates combined with news feeds from various anime sites. Haven't had time to really do this.

The shop thing makes me twitchy. The vision is a) a site that doesn't have to ask for donations and b) a site that isn't overrun with all automated stores and no actual people. I'm undecided on how to do this. I'd spend some think time on this, but solving problems in the new layout engine makes me sleepy.

You should see the first results of the suggestion box on the front page. Still taking more suggestions/wishlist items... just drop 'em here.
