When Should A Gallery Be Deleted?
I would imagine that even artwork hidden to us is visible to mods or admins, klet. I hope. ^^;
Oh, I would think so, too. I just don't think the rest of us should complain about empty galleries when we can't say for certain that they're really empty. ^_~
I don't know, this whole topic just seemed so odd to me, considering it originated from a member rather than a mod or admin. I think if RS was having a space problem, we'd hear something about it. Or notice it, or something.
Blegh, I just like giving people the benefit of the doubt. ^_^

Hi,
First I would like to thank everyone that has voiced there opinions here. I think this is a very interesting topic and I am glad that many people have responded. I would like to clarify that this post was just a "if and when" post. I have noticed some people..the same as usual..have felt it an attack of some kind..while it wasn't. I was merely asking a question that has come up with many collectors time and time again, this question is at least a good year or two old. Since it hadn't been asked before, I felt that it would be good forum topic.
Thanks ^_^

As a collector that stopping and restarted I dont think any account should be deleted without very good cause. Two good points have been made that should be addressed. The first being items that are sold but still listed in the gallery. I believe this is against RS rules anyway, so problem solved there. The second be people not responding on "inactive" accounts. If a collector can not even respond to an email after some time, then maybe it could be considered for deletion. I feel that the gallery owner should at least receive and notice before such a step is taken. I know I didn't post when I wasn't active, but I did respond to emails.
I just want to add a few follow up comments, I think some inactive RS galleries should not be considered for deletion. E.g. content is visible, an active email account exists, and/or blog comments are occasionally posted.
However a fine distinction exists for completely empty (hidden or otherwise) inactive RS accounts with a broken contact email.
Wouldn't you agree hiding contents while updating your gallery is one thing, but if the entire gallery is hidden, objectively speaking what IS the point of even having a gallery if there is zero visible content and the email associated bounces?
I realize some people quit this hobby and/or they may only use RS to sell their remaining cels (for which a account is needed). However, is it really asking too much to expect a gallery owner to share one item they actually possess, blog, or make one update in an entire 360+ calendar year? Likewise isn't it true, maintaining an active email account isn't difficult to do? Otherwise, how will anyone (especially Jason and the mods) know whether or not the owner still intends to keep their account? *scratches head*
Hopefully RS will not get to the point anytime soon where we need to free up space. Thankfully we are merely discussing the possibilities and thought provoking concerns.
Many people have mentioned galleries with nothing visible in them. Since RS offers an option of "delisting" your gallery from public view, it seems like folks who have visible (yet empty) galleries...really do not have anything in them.
I do not think that galleries should be deactivated unless they break the TOS. But it is about time that the TOS were updated. Perhaps Jason could add a feature that allows the user to turn on/off the Feedback feature. This would allow hermits to display their cels without being troubled by others. And I am assuming that RS mods/admins have a way of contacting any site members, regardless. Requiring an active e-mail account should be in the TOS, though...
