Sesshomaru
Yes, and no. I have several cels. I do not have cels that cost several thousand but my goal does not lie in investing. I appreciate them as art. As such, I take my time in collecting but am always on the lookout and will spend if I see eye to eye with a seller and if the piece speaks to me. Might I inquire as to what my ebay ID has to do with this conversation? I do feel a bit uneasy that you would ask about my ID since the purpose of it lies in preserving anonymity

I am not saying anything to the contrary. She is a wonderful seller. I just did not get along with her and I stated that should not influence anyone. The only point I made was to bear in mind that the price was for the cel, excluding the background and sketch whereas the cel that I bought at the same price included them. I was simply saying to read the auction carefully and keep your eyes open in case other deals become available.

That's perfectly logical. My only point was that I bought a cel with both a sketch and background for the same price as the other cel without them. I was not ridiculing the seller. It is a great buy. I was simply saying that sometimes better deals come along, especially on ebay.
That is understandable but how can one expect to make the same amount that they put into a cel if they then separate it.
Actually, I expect to recoup what I paid for many things. There are several things that I have let go for less than I paid...most recently just to make room. But on others - take Sesshoumaru for example - expect to pay the same or more than original prices...no matter that the sketch is included or not. I sold my Sesshoumaru for almost 3 times than I paid when put up for auction.
I get full sets of CG cuts all the time. Sometimes I separate the genga and douga. That too is breaking up the production set. Most collectors are happy to get what they can get their hands on for most series. While there may be an abundance of InuYasha cels, I can guarantee that the amount of Sesshoumaru cels that are available is quite limited.
This is, of course, just my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Backgrounds that are non-matching aren't worth very much in terms of adding value to a cel. They contribute perhaps a few dollars to the end value, unless you have bidders who don't realize it's non-matching. Every cel is unique: as a buyer you can't really say well I bought this cel for so-and-so and because your cel is similar, I ought to get it at so-and-so. You can say that if you want to, but if the seller rejects it the seller rejects it and it's not the seller's fault.
