Yes, I must speak up again. I threw a temper tantrum in my first year here, it made me look very immature and petty. Yet I apologized and bygones are bygones. Maybe things have changed in the years I have been here but when I erred I certainly was forgiven and it was forgotten. It didn't turn into a Gang Up On The Newbie like it is here.
Just.. lay off her already, criminey. .___.
Oh, and advice for newbies, Collegegirl? Mmm. Let's see. I've learned a few simple rules.
-Be very polite when making offers on someone's gallery. If they explicitly say "not for sale", it's a good idea to leave it alone.
-Don't announce your "bidding limit".
-Also it helps not to announce what you're going after in an auction. I find it jinxes you. ;)
-Most importantly.. treat everyone here with respect. Do not screw anyone over or be flaky; we are indeed tight knit and everyone knows everyone else. If you cheat someone on a payment or something.. I find the community is very unforgiving. We all want to be treated like you'd want to be treated. :)

Ok , after reading through 9 pages of back and forth in this thread...

To All STOP , step back and take a few deep breaths.

Yes as has been admited and apoligized by Sophcollegegirl for some mistakes have been made but I did not see any bad mouthing on her part of the seller and I do hope that the lessons learned are taken to heart.

If not then I'm sure the community will become quite aware. I do hope that this all can be put behind us.

Nothing is to be gained by piling on , stiring the pot and attempting to escalate things.

To All , drop it and get on with your lives. Those who wish to deal with either party are free to do so in the future , Those who chose not to deal with either have that choice.

[quote] I don't think it's quite fair to expect that the price should be lower because there isn't a matching background or a sketch. A lot of artwork, especially bank cels, do not come with either. To state that the buyer should give you a discount on these items is not fair because you'll be hard pressed to find many sequences with matching anything.

A lot of collectors buy artwork from a particular series or episode because there is something special that draws them to that particular scene. Fans have put a greater attachment on certain characters and scenes, so, it's easy to expect that artwork from these scenes would have a higher demand. Most fans who are just looking for anything from a particular sequence won't expect a full package because, as many of these shows are 10+ years old, finding it may be next to impossible.

I agree that it doesn't always sit too well with me when I see people who purposely split a cel from its sketch or break up sketch sets in order to make a quick buck. You'll find a lot of collectors who feel the same way. But, they have the right to do whatever they want with their artwork, even if you don't agree with their methods. If it bothers you so much, you are always free to not buy from them and spend your money on items from sellers whose business practices you favor.

Damn this thread is so long. I got curious what this was all about. I won't take sides as I don't know the complete story. I'll just say that once again Cutiebunny gives great information about cel collecting. So learn girl. This was before this thread turned into a nasty afair. I just want to add an example to what Cutiebunny said. My most complete cel ( by complete I mean background, sketches, tests.........) is perhaps one of my cheapest. The cel I'm talking about is my neptune and mars cel with the forest backround. In contrast my mamoru cel cost twice as much, and it doesn't even have a decent sketch. Of cource it hurts when you don't get the full package but then again you buy the cel because you want to own something from the particular scene, show.

Everything seems to be out and sophcollegegirl has apologised for her wrong doings, although what she did was wrong, I think everyone should at least give her a chance to redeem herself in the eyes-of-the-community. She seems like a nice girl who just got a bit heated with something that she really wanted (and I'm sure a lot of you, although may not have acted in the same way have been in a similar situation).

We are all different and act in different ways...like I said, everything is out, so everyone on this site (and the forum) can decide for themselves on whether they want to deal with Soph or not, there is no use hounding her anymore as no one deserves to be driven out of a community (and hobby) before they've even started.

Soph, please do not be disheartened by this, as you can see we are a close nit community and as you can appreciate when transactions go sour on eBay or otherwise the community is informed and the story backed up?in order for your friends to not be duped/scammed/messed around with by the same person.

Well I for one am (as others here) willing to give you the chance you deserve and I hope you prove me right as it'd be nice to see you and your flatmate join and be part of the community...and collect cels alongside us. There has been a lot of good advice given in this thread, so I hope you take it in as well. It's good to be passionate about your hobby, but remember to take a step back every now and then and learn as well (which I've already seen you do in this thread).

(Also if you share a computer, make sure you logout of your computer, as it really makes people suspect the whole situation if your ?flatmate? posts under your login.)

I agree with JWR, it?s time to move on for all of those involved, same as when I quoted Gonzai in beta. Every time something like this happens I do feel it demeans the hobby, the community and its members. It?s quite disheartening to see these things over and over again. I think there?s a better way to take care of this community and its members, whether they are newbies or seasoned collectors who made a mistake (or not). I see issues like this spread like wild fire and yet hardly see any activity for informative cel discussions. Someone start some fun ?show me? threads and make me remember why I?m here in the first place.
