My girlfriend didn't know about cels until I explained what they were and showed a small range from my collection [including hentai ones ;)] she appreciates art and accepts them- probably helped by the enthusiasm I put across.

After showing her my favourite movie, My Neighbour Totoro, she was impressed by the quality of the art and the sentiments within the story, so much so that she was happy to let her young children see it.
They love it, which convinced her that anime is am impressive medium.
As a hobby, she works with textiles and delved straight into making a Totoro plush for the kids. They absolutely adore it but don't know why Totoro doesn't yawn when they rest on his belly ^__^

After seeing my Totoro Tshirt, they also want a toy of the little white tree spirit to sit between Totoro's ears, LOL
By making the children happy, it's brought us all closer together and at least I know what to get the youngsters for Christmas [no, not a set of Ghibli cels] ;)

well, although my girlfriend happens to appreciate art, she doesn't appreciate the money i spend on cels. I've had to put it on hold for a little while, to reduce the levels of abuse i get ;)
