It would be awesome to hear from someone who met their sig. other from cel collecting or anime cons. My bf hardly new what anime was when I met him...but he is quite resonable and only falls asleep about half way through Nausicaa (I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE!). But he doesn't mind my collection as long as I am responsible with other financial responsibilities.
Sometimes I wish I could be with someone who shared the same interest, but that would be totally wrong because my bf is a great guy in general ^.^

Ok, don't know if this meets the criteria, but here goes...
My wife and I met at \\*drum roll*\\...
**animation school!**
Story goes like this...
It is customary, if not mandatory, in most dorms to decorate your door as a means of self expression and/or a way to break the ice.
Since I was there to be an animator, I made that statement by posting my fan-cels, created from my favorite comics at the time (GoldDigger and Ninja High School).
Well in the weeks to follow, I hear stories of a girl on the 3rd floor who had a pentagram on the floor of her room. Sounds interesting, so I make a mental note to at least see who lives in the 'Satan' room.
During that time, Leigh had noticed my fan-cels when visiting her friends on the 2nd floor. And she made note to see who lived in the NHS room.
Well, one day I return from class to find a girl staring at my door. It was Leigh waiting for her friend who forgot something back in their room.
At this point the details of the initial conversation are sketchy at best. Needless to say, the ice-breaker was the cels on my door. After an awkward 'hello' and brief intro, her friends show up. They see Leigh has found mystery 'cel artist' and promptly abandon her with, as she likes to put it, "the freak in the black fisherman's hat, wearing one boot and one sneaker". It's true, but, hey, it was college and I was being different...like everyone else.
So, after that brief interruption, we continue talking. And it's a pretty good bet that anyone into Antarctic Press, was also into anime. So our conversation eventually led to Disney and Ghibli films and fan-sub anime.
Hours passed and the magic moment had to eventually end. I recall that night I talked my roommate's ear off about the girl I found outside our door. He reminded me many times, that he was present for the later half of the encounter.
We kept 'bumping' into each other at the dorm and school. It's now 10 years later and we're still adding to that story...hopefully for many more decades to come.

Oh, and the girl with the pentagram on the floor? Totally forgot about her after my meeting with Leigh, but I did eventually find out the true story.
I only had one roommate during college, guess I was lucky.
Leigh had something like 5-6 and each of them is a funny story. But, one she got rid of by using masking tape to make a pentagram on the floor of their room ^_^

Why didn't I think of that?! 0.0 No, seriously. I roommate I had earlier this year was a major %*$#@%. I ended up having to move out into the crappier dorms. ;_;
My husband has been quite supportive of my current hobby. There were days when he was concerned about 'how much I was spending' and really was it 'worth it all?' Quite frankly I didn't know. But I was able to quell his fears temporarily when I sold some of my earliest cels for 10 times what I paid for it. That seemed to calm him down.....
