Why Would...

Why would galleries appear on the the main page as updated, if NOTHING is added into the gallery? I know there may be something hidden, but what's the point of some site constantly showing up on the main page if nothing is uploaded? I hate going to galleries that say they're updated, and there's nothing there. I've noticed a few galleries who are constantly on the main updated page that have nothing updated in them?

Are the abusing the system? Or are they actually updating something? Why would it say there's nothing added when you hover over the gallery name on the main page? I know when I've uploaded private stuff/or pp protected stuff it's showed up on the main page as updated, just when ppl go to my site they won't be able to get into it.

I'm just tired of seeing the same galleries constantly on the main page with nothing in them. Makes me think they're abusing the system.

I'm sure that some have their personal reasons for keeping there coming soon updates hidden but there is no way currently to stop those from showing up on the front page as an update.
If checking a gallery update and finding it hidden bugs a person I would suggest they take note of which gallerys have such updates and not bother checking those out.

hey guys, i know i'm one to blame (not sure who else is having this problem?) and it's not intentional.

i recently acquired a large amount of artwork that i would like to keep private right now. it's my personal choice to hide this particular section (and updates) for the moment. it isn't to be mean, or boost gallery hits, etc. rubberslug has given gallery owners the option of a "private area" and i am simply using mine.

i am 100% supportive of everyones' opinion on this topic. personally, i don't see the point for hidden items to be considered updates if visitors can't view the images. so if there is some html code i can use, or someone i can email about this, please let me know. i don't want to annoy anybody!! ;_;

Don't quote me on this... but I think if you temporarily close your gallery before adding the items, then re-open your gallery after you are finished, it might not appear on the front page updated list. It's been a long time since I tried this, so I don't remember clearly (I did it so my site wouldn't appear on the front page until I was finished updating--I added the last item after re-opening).

If that doesn't work, you can always wait a few hours before re-opening the gallery.
