The problem with the RS shop is that you have to be a donor to post there. Which I think is reasonable. However, as Jason has said time and time again, donating [i]is not[/i] necessary to use this site. Since selling is a problem that affects all RS members, including those who can't/won't/forget to donate, we cannot solve all our problems with the RS shop.

Yes, more people with the ability should post their stuff there. Then maybe they can post in the forum with a link to their cels uploaded in the shop.

The way I see it, the forum was created as a way to help combate the selling issue--just as the shop was. Mods, correct me if I'm wrong there, but that's the impression I'm getting from the various posts here.

Another point . . . you can't say that people can't take offers on their galleries. Sure, the mods can delete any threads/weblogs here stating such, but where will that end? People can just post on beta, animanga, the JACML, etc. There's no way you can expect the mods to police all of that. They have neither the time nor the authority.

Yes, maybe the shop could use some work. But that won't solve everything, and since this site is not solely focused on sales, I don't see the point of putting too much effort into it.

The reason one must be a site sponcer to sell or buy from the shop is to keep some control of it.
If we allowed non RS members to use it it could become a problem with insuring it's safety.

As it stands if someone does not follow thru a sale in the shop such as never shipping a cel that has been paid for, the Mod's can step in , investigate and if need be ban the offender.

Now being a sponcer is not that much of a hardship. For as little as a one time $5 donation gives one the ability to both buy & sell there.

Do remember , going back a few years there was no ability or tolerence for Sales , Offers or any such transactions allowed here at all.

Jason has for the members set up the RS shop as well as a special forum section to accomidate your sales & offers. There are no listing fees each time you put a cel in the shop nor do we collect any commission. Is the shop perfect , No. Are some items in the shop seem to be overpriced , Yes but you can always make an offer and see what happens.

That was my point. The shop [i]and[/i] the forum were set up for this purpose. Ms. Poe's posts were suggesting that posting cels for sale with prices and for offers in the forum should no longer be allowed, but I had always assumed that such posts are the reason that the "For Sale" forum exists. Am I correct in assuming so?

The purpose of the For Sale / For Offer thread is to let the membership know that you are having certain items available.

Ideally I would hope that such anouncements would have links to Ebay or other forums that list those items or the RS shop. If someone wants to list specific cels with prices while ok , I would strongly suggest that they place them in the RS shop for the Mod's will not take any action on an deals gone bad between members who engage in private transactions.

Klet, your second last post elaborates on the problem better than I could've ever done myself ^_^ Although most of the points were not replied to, your argument was very well put. I completely agree with you.
