The Sales Policy Poll

Hopefully I can clear up some of the confusion.

1. The enforcing of rules has absolutly nothing to do with money , donations or otherwise.

2. Jason has set up both the RS shop to sell items without listing fees or commissions like other sites as well as a forum section devoted to members posts of any For Sale or For Offers.

3. The reason for the "crackdown" was the many complaints by members over the abuse of the blogs in which were becoming dominated by For Sale & For Offer advertisements that appeared on the front page.

4. Having a "For Sale or On Ebay" section in one's gallery has always been against the rules and several Mod's are daily going through and closing those gallerys found having them so this is not new.

5. We have in the past allowed a "For Offers" sections in gallerys. During this time of re-examining the rules it has been determined that at this time we will no longer allow them. In truth all gallerys are open to offers , I as I'm sure most recieve unslolicited offers all the time. It is felt that since we have provided a forum area for members to post what they have for offer that having a section in ones gallery is not needed. If you do not agree please post those concerns in this thread for we are looking for such input and this policy may be modified.

I would like to clear up a misconception some might have about the Banning of Gallerys. "Banning" is a harsh word and may have led to some to think that if someone makes an innocent mistake that we totally delete their gallery an they then need to reload everything. This is not true.
There are degrees of "banning".
In most cases a Mod will close a gallery temporally while sending an email to the gallery owner explaing why their gallery was closed with instructions as to what one needs to correct to allow a their gallery to be reopened.
Now there are other steps that can be used including the total deleting of a gallery and a block of the IP address for those who warrent it but thankfully these measures are only used in rare cases.

The Moderators of this site all want everyone to have fun here. We would all prefer to not need to close anyones gallery if it can be avoided. But to be fair we have to enforce the rules to everyone.

I come back to these forums only to become a bit confused. No ones not allowed to show "for offer" sections in their galleries? If so, I have no problems taking mine down.
I think galleries only open to sell cels do deserve to get banned, but why are all the other galleries being punished????

So someone who's displaying hundreds of cels, but has a "for offers" section with a couple of cels will have his/her gallery banned? What harm could this possibly do to anyone??
I agree. But it's not my site so if the rules state no gallery offers/sale section at all, I don't mind following it.

Thanks JWR for taking the time to try and clarify some of the concerns and confusions. I really do appreciate it.

I have no complaints friends. I guess you're right majinuub...as long as I have a gallery in RS, I gotta follow the rules since it's not my own site :(

The down point is that now I gotta learn how to make my own site....eeeesh...that's gonna be an interesting story ^_^

Thanx for replying Joe.

One other thought. Why would we allow offers, or sales to go on in galleries...Even if they are using the forum, and not their blog or a certain section in their gallery...IF the RS SHOP has that option to make it "FOR OFFERS"? I think if you're going to ban sales posts in blogs, and section on the main page...You should crack down on it all together.

Ppl know how to cheat the RS system so that their main page always shows up on the main RS page...To get more ppl to visit, and see they are taking offers, etc. I see that as the next "WAVE".

How difficult would it be for a member to upload a cel to the RS shop, and do it as "FOR OFFERS"? Here's why IMO...Not enough advertising. If we were able to come up with a better RS shop system...Maybe this problem would be cleared up.

Just a few thoughts...But...I just think linking directly to your gallery with prices on the RS forum, or having a post about your gallery up for offers should be cut altogether. Ppl can start utilizing the RS shop for all of that. With input from members...Maybe we can start building a better RS shop system?

Possibly? Hopefully...

In the RS shop , when you click on a cel the screen shows the infomation on the cel. In that information is boxes that can be selected showing that the seller is open to offers or trade on that cel as well as the price one is willing to sell it for.
