Sale adverts in weblogs

Personally, I don't see this as punnishment. It's just a cooling off period. As for posting updates, there is a section at the top menu entitled "Recently Updated" where you can see what has been updated. The blogs are a journal, not a message board. You can post about your personal life all you want(don't know why anyone has the impression that I said that you shouldn't be able to talk about your life), but there are forums on this board that deal with sales specifically. All I am saying is, there is a place for everything, and everything in its place. We don't need the front page cluttered with sale ads and mean spirited topics. If you make a blog entry and just happen to mention that you have something for sale, GREAT! But the title of the blog shouldn't be "Stuff on eBay. Come and get it!" It's just annoying to me. I've mentioned sales in my blog entries, but only in passing. The other 75% was dedicated to something else. This isn't the end of the world, folks.

I would just hate to contribute to any ill-will. None of my blog entries have ever been dedicated to hating someone or something. I don't even bash deputy services, etc. I've seen all manner of complaints in blogs. Should we report posts that start the flame wars? Because I honestly don't know what to do. I mean, how involved should we try to be with the mods and Jason? My point is, if I knew the best way to handle a situation, I would definitely do it! If someone says something offensive, should I report that? I don't know the thin line between being a cry baby and addressing an important issue. Some people may not understand what's going on, but if it strikes a nerve, what should I do about it? I know there are better ways of handling certain situations and I'd like to know what they are, to prevent anything like this in the future.

Another bit of confusion is, what you can and can't do. The policies say you can't dump files and post pictures of stuff other than your cels, since this is a cel website. But there are galleries with photographs of people, places, rooms, things, all non-cel related. Do these people get in trouble? Is there a blanket to cover everything or is it we focus on some things and ignore others? I'm not complaining per se, I'm saying that it leads to confusion about what is acceptable on the website. "Monkey see, monkey do" kind of thing, ya know?

I always get nervous when folks start talking about banning.
I see it as this:
1: Production art (cels, genga, sketches, layouts, backgrounds, etc)
2: Post production art (rilezu, repros)
3: Fan Art
4: Original Art

Shoot me if I've forgotten something.

Now, my lifesized cardboard cutout of Bleach's Ichigo doesn't really fall into any of those areas, but since this is the only place where folks will understand my enthusiasm (at least to some extent), and enjoy seeing him as well, I hoped to post him here and share the joy.

I assuage my guilt over the stained glass by calling it fan art.

Frankly, I'm perfectly fine with people posting whatever they want (everything I've seen has been cel, fan, Japanese or artistically related in some sense). But my point was, the rules are followed sometimes but not always. I see galleries with "For Sale" links and I make my own, thinking it's acceptable. I just assume. That is what leads to problems. Conflicting messages about what is ok and what is not ok.

Personally, I really love your stained glass. I like seeing other people's artwork and pictures of their anime merchandise collections. But I can understand if RS doesn't want this type of upload. I'm just so confused :*(

While I am sad to see the weblogs gone from the front page, and I can understand that it might seem a little unfair to take them all down for now, we must remember how difficult it would be to fairly judge the "wrong-doers" in this situation. Jason has enough to do. XD The bottom line is, this is a free service, and he really shouldn't have to babysit. As he said in previous posts in different threads, Jason doesn't read all of the blogs. Who would have time to do that? So naturally, he doesn't know every little detail of what's going on, so any attempt to ban a few weblogs would turn into a finger-pointing game. Besides, it's probably a lot less work to turn them all off rather than a few specific blogs. ;)

As far as posting your updates in your weblog, I'm sorry if I offended anyone by saying that. The only thing I mean is that I really love reading the weblogs, because they often offer a way to get to know people better. I'm just a little disappointed when I click on an entry and all I see is an update. But as you can probably tell by the length of my post, and the name of my RS weblog (Verbosity ^o^) I tend to type a lot . . . so that was really more of a personal opinion rather than a complaint. There's absolutely nothing against the rules in posting a blog with a sentence saying "I added 2 CCS cels and a HxH today." I just like reading about people. Sorry if I offended.

Anyway, if someone/something offends you, just don't read it. You can avoid certain people's blogs if you discover that they rub you the wrong way. As far as reporting people, as Jason said, don't tell him. Tell the mods. That's what they said to do in the other weblog thread . . . I think it's titled, "Don't make me come out there" or something like that. I would personally only report someone if they offended me directly, not if I believed that someone else would be offended by it. 'Course, that's just my two cents. Wait for the official response to questions asked in this thread.

Okay, I'll shut up now.
