Any Macross fans out there?

Im interested in Robotech cels, not Macross, so if any of you know where I can find them I'd appreciate it.

Robotech is SAME as MACROSS.

Macross is the original tv series name which aired in Japan back in 30years ago.

Robotech was a later released name for the americans & europe release.

Just as Mokman offered in early message :

This
link has various sellers, maybe you should check out for yourself which dealer has Robotech cels since many dealer would name the section as 'MACROSS'.

Luna_slave is correct. What people here in the States know as Robotech is really three different unrelated shows produced in Japan and "repackaged" over here. The original names of these Japanese shows are Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimensional Calvary Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada. Harmony Gold acquired the rights to each of these three entirely seperate shows and dubbed a brand new English storyline on top of them that unified the shows as three chapters of one story. The reason why they did this is because none of the original Japanese shows had enough episodes to qualify for a sindicated time slot on American TV, while all three combined did.

So anyways, back to cel collecting. If you are interested in cels from the Macross Saga portion of Robotech you can find them listed as Macross on YJ and private dealer sites (though they will be mixed in with Macross movie cels as well). As for the other two chapters, Masters and New Generation, good luck, they are quite rare. Search for Southern Cross to look for cels from the Masters Robotech chapter. These are by far the most rare of any of the "Robotech" cels. One just happened to be put up on YJ today under the Macross heading. There is a Southern Cross heading on YJ but currently there are no cels there. There is one other on a private site that I can think of but because of the rarity is very pricey.

To
find New Generation cels, search the links we have already provided, or YJ, but look for the Japanese title, Mospeada. There are a few cel there at least.

I hope this helps get you underway.

To clarify my earlier post, no most of the blackhole Macross collectors specifically do not have a RS gallery. Why? B/c they do not want to share with the public what they have, b/c they will get people asking constantly... oh is that for sale? I can understand that aspect, but sadly this is such a loss to the numerous fans who will never see these works of art.

Btw, for the collections I've seen these tend to belong to older collectors, mid-30s to late 40s. These people do not visit RS and probably have no desire to do so, since our collections pale in comparison to theirs.

As for Mokman's advice on Macross cels... I only partly agree. I'd strongly advise people to AVOID collecting Macross cels since there really are not any reasonably priced ones. This applies to the tv, DYRL, FB, Plus series. Everyone please keep in mind the series is over 20 years old; you guys are hunting for things looong since consolidated into blackhole collections and the remaining scraps end up w/dealers (assuming they will sell them) and/or occasionally on YJP. But any that end up on YJP are not cheap for noob collectors, especially for the popular characters. The only reasonably priced ones are M7 since diehard old school Macross fans tend to dislike M7.

I won't give a breakdown of the pricing trends for the last decade (though I do recommend tracking this for any series you are serious about collecting cels for), but suffice to say, within the last eight years prices have steadily rising and international demand remains strong.

You've been warned, proceed at your own risk. :)
