Any Macross fans out there?
Woohoo! I actually know one of these identification questions (I had to look her name up though because I only remembered the guy's name).
That's Mylene from Macross 7.
That's correct. Mylene, guitarist for the band, Fire Bomber, pilot of the VF-11 MAXL valkryie, and daughter of the famous Macross ace pilots Max & Mireya Jenius.
i've been a big macross fan since the dyrl movie came out in vhs. my cousin bought it for 150 dollars from book nippon in the early 80's which seems insane by today's prices. we were totally hooked on the story and the songs, especially the final battle sequence. my younger brother even has a copy. i bought the laser disc version sometimes later and have the gold book of the movie, the this is animation series, am ju ju, and every mikimoto artbook that dealt with macross. it was a nice obsession of mine for awhile. but nowadays good, no i mean, great cels are hard to come by. macross 7 seems to be the only one that go up for auction on a regular basis but that's because i believe it's the least popular of the series. it's sad really but a reflection of how most macross, dyrl, plus collectors are unwillingly to part with their cels. we love them so much it will probably be a viking funeral for our collections when we go as one collector said in the past. at least there are galleries here in rubberslug to preserve and share our collection on the net. thanks jason.
There are some heavy hitter Macross cel, genga, hanken collectors out there but none of them are on RS. I've met some over the years and I've seen a few of their collections as well. These are the infamous blackhole collectors, I won't name names, but suffice to say what we see here on RS is a small sampling of what is hidden offline. I've invited them to post on RS but thus far, no one has taken me up on the offer. Drat.
