First Exhibition ?

I am almost ashamed to post this, but what the heck, right? We are all friends here I suppose in one way or another...

My cels/gallery were actually spotted by a semi-well known foreign artists group here in Japan. They have asked me to display (5) of my cels in their upcoming exhibition in Japan, along with two other artist members works. One is a painter, and the other is a photographer.

I was shocked, and couldn't believe it and just thought that they were kidding. Of course, I said okay.. sure,, why not, but all of the time I was thinking these guys must be laughing whenever I turn my back.. My anime cels?? There are far more beautiful and exquisite collections for sure.

So, I went home thinking what a gag..

Then they contacted me my email and showed me this:

http://www.marafiki.org/index.html

(scroll
down about halfway and look to the left)

My jaw dropped.. I didn't ask for this.

Now, they are asking me to frame stuff, etc.
What'tha?? Anyway, I thought you all deserved a good laugh =)

Which cels should I display?

As paranoid as I am, I might color-copy and frame everything!

Cheers!

You know come to think of it, it would be kinda cool to have something with "Rubberslug" on it to pass out.. Hmm..like a pamphet, flyer, or guide or something with some sample color thumbnails of the feature gallery pics, or something.. You guys might get some hits, sales who knows, what else, eh? *pinch me is this real?*

It would give me something to do... like I was promoting something, I guess.

Roy your too gracious..
Please no bowing suggestions.. I am in Japan,, The land of bowing, and then bowing again.. I get it all...day...long..for no reason that I can phantom whatsoever...I'm just another duck in the pond..looking for a quacker (=

But, I will need some frames... I guess.

This whole thing vaguely reminds me of my old college days when some "friends" and roomates one day "hog-tied" me with rope in my sleep (I had been boozing the night before, and my roomates were university football players) woke me up at 6:00AM, threw me in a car and took me to a cliff over looking a river... (TRUE STORY) Naw,.. they didn't throw me in, but I laughed so hard from the experience I jumped-in on my own.. same thing this time.

E, You will be showing this art to art types get yourself some sheets of plastic from the hardware store and put your cel's in between two of them and put stainless bolts though the plastic to hold them together, And you could put the cel in one and the background in another one and lay them together for the scene.
I've seen this done for shows so folks can see all the way around the cels and backgrounds.
The bonus is it's a cheap but nice way to show off your artwork and no one can hurt your artwork.
And the art folks get a good look at your cel's front and back.
NOTE: If you do use plastic sheets make sure you use mats in between your cel and the plastic so there is no sticking but leave the back board off the mat so you can see though the cel to the background.
Backgrounds will not stick to the plastic unless
the paint is oil paints so no mat is needed for the water color backgrounds.
ok, no bowing how about a good old high five?

These folks gave you a diving board so jump right in the deep end and have fun with it.

People will keep a magnet card on there file cab. or ice box forever or until the kids destroy it there always good for advertisement
