picture page

While I am not really for this feature, I can see why some people like it. My biggest concerns are that people will post their photos in the wrong place, abuse the priviledge (have 5 cels and 500 personal photos), the "ban list" will grow exponentially, or that the extraneous images will show up in cel searches. That's about it for me. I think if people want to show images of their pets to someone else, they should just get a photobucket page, or a devart site (DeviantArt doesn't care what you post - they even have a section for "family vacation photos"!)

Yup, that's the idea. We want to get personal photos out of the cel areas so they don't show up in searches and such (well, once searches work better).

The "picture page" will be just another module tacked on, like an about page. It will be completely separate from the cel listings and cel updates.

It also seems that the overwhelming preference is that we limit personal photos so it's not "5 cels and 500 personal photos". Fair enough. We'll probably unlock it for sponsors though, because we really do want to start giving you all extra stuff (most of you who are frequent visitors are already sponsors).

I'm also for this feature, but limited. Like, no more than 20 files for non-sponsors and 40 for sponsors or 30 for all? I wouldn't want to come across galleries with 5 cels and 500 pet pics either, while I know that Greenleaf was referring to me ;) (took it down).
Plus, I think the file size for such pics should be limited to no more than 100k.

On the other hand, the question will then turn to: why not also offer blogs, guestmaps, guestbooks (would be cool), flash games,...
That's the problem when you allow non-cel related stuff on a cel site. Because ALL non-cel related stuff will then have a good reason to exist and that won't be photos only.

As a matter of fact, now as I think about it, why don't we who want photos just put a link to a Bravenet photo album?

I am for this feature but I already have a DeviantArt Account. I just wish I always had my camera to share the various images of Anime throughout the area of Japan I live in. As to cel images don't we already have images of cels as our main galleries? I would love to post a good picture of Real Samurai Armor, Just so it can be compared to my cels of Samurai Troopes in their armor.
