printing backgrounds on paper

Heh, there's a good reason we titled that background merely "pink" :) Actually, it's even more vivid in person than in the scan ...

It cost me ?60 knocked down from ?80.
They usually put a huge markup on everything over here in the UK, then when the government takes their cut (17.5% vat on everything sold, this includes ebay purchases grrrrrrr)your looking at rather extortionate prices.
Some of those background you have done look awesome.

Not my backgrounds, all I did was print them. Woot. Thanks to lonelymountain and others who I leeched from.

I hear that the lots of Brits are taking summer vacations to the States just to go shopping since the exchange rate is so favorable. Just think, if you were in Austin, Texas, USA, with 20 quid, you coulda scooped up the same printer and just carried the thing home in a backpack.

I've only visited your side once, but yeah, I was pretty shocked at how expensive everyday stuff is there.... and how comparably small the portions are. 80 pence for a liter of gas.. er... petrol? (in 2001) Isn't that like $5 US a gallon?

I fear the day that you go out and buy replacement ink cartridges.

Side note: Let us know how those backgrounds at Kinko's turn out cyphr, if you're gonna run some.

Will do. Like I said, I won't be able to try it out until Saturday due to my cracked-out schedule. I'm sooo not looking forward to school starting tomorrow...

Ok, here is my report from the front. I went up to Kinko's today and printed out 3 backgrounds. They didn't have time to do it for me, so they directed me to a computer with Photoshop and a nice color laser printer.

They charged me $.20/min for the computer time and $1.08 per copy on card stock. This ended up costing me about $1.50 per background I printed. This is mostly because of the rendering time that Photoshop needed to generate the print job.

I would recommend that you get the backgrounds properly sized for the cel before you get there. I messed up a few times and wasted about $5 on botched printouts. I printed out the backgrounds with 14" X 11" print area. This was good because I think the paper they gave me was 17" X 14". I'm not sure because I trimmed down the printouts after I got ones I liked.

One other thing to be aware of is Photoshop will decide the best way to display the image. This is not always good. For example, on one of the backgrounds I printed, it chopped off the top. This made it hard because I lost the registration holes...

Right now, I only have a single cel scanned in with a copied background. If you'd like to see how it turned out, look here:

It
was an almost perfect match of the shot. Thanks to lonelymountain for the donation!
