The Official Ban Request Thread

Ok, after many hours of thinking about this I have decided to post just some of the galleries that are violating RS rules.

So, too my friends listed below this is nothing personal but I want to preserve RS and Jason's original wish of this site.

Below is a paragraph taken directly from the F.A.Q.S page of RS. Notice that it does not say it is ok too post autographs, prints, toys, wall papers and other random stuff.

Can I post artbook scans, manga scans, postcards, etc.? back to top

No. Objects that are not original studio-produced originals are expressly forbidden on the site. This is the one really big rule here. Rubberslug doesn't make enough money to handle a lawsuit from a copyright holder who "just doesn't get it". You can provide all the disclaimers you want, but at the end of the day, it's ALL sites that will get shuttered, not just yours.

Ok,
there are some for now. There are many more sites that contain Posters, prints and random autographs and such.

PEOPLE!! None of these things are Original Studio Production items, lets respect the rules and help preserve our animation community.

Thanks!

Well it is granted that some of the items you listed such as toys & artbook cover should be moved to the photo album section and those having them will be asked to do so.
Most of the other items are covered in this forum post:

-" class="bold plain" rel="nofollow">http://www.rubberslug.com/board/showthread.asp?T=961

"GALLERY:

-
Posting non-cel or otherwise off-topic art EXCESSIVELY. One cel posted does NOT mean you can post 100+ images of your modified car. Keep your gallery focus on animation art."

So long as these gallery's have a vast majority of actual production animation or other artwork , be it cels , sketches or lithographic plates. I am not about to ban them for they are in keeping in the orginal spirit of what we are about.
Now if as said a gallery only has such items then they will be closed.

Since when are my "posters" considered a violation? They're from a limited print run(only given to certain movie theatres in Japan during the run of the film). They're incredibly rare, and you'll have to look pretty far and wide to find one. These aren't some bootleg posters I found in Chinatown for a $1 a piece. But, if the powers that be want me to take them down, I will.

If we're going to go to the extent of prohibiting non-studio *original* work, then all fancels, rilezu, reprocels, etc. should all be banned. I think such a policy would be detrimental, especially considering that almost all animes now are CG and not everyone is fond(or has the money to purchase)colorless sketches.

I also don't see anything wrong with people putting pictures of their room in the gallery. I enjoy looking at those pictures because, I think it tells a lot about the person. It just shows the extent that some people go collection-wise, and, if my room had some sort of order, I'd probably take a picture of my junk piles too.

Cutiebunny, Please understand as I posted, all the galleries that were listed were in violation of the actual rules posted on this site. The mod above posted a link that discusses other items that can be posted in their gallery. EVERYONE please note that I was posting according to the RULES. Evidently, they need to be changed on the F.A.Q. to include the "rules that have been apparently added, in the forum"

*sigh* See what happens when you try to do something right.

According to the link in JWR's post, "prints", such as the limited run posters I have, are not considered banable offenses. Limited prints, lithos and fancels are also not considered banable offenses.

Most galleries I see feature lots of cels/artwork and perhaps a small portion dedicated to their anime collection in their room, etc. I honestly don't find it problematic for users to have a a small number of these items in their gallery....and I enjoy looking at them.

Is this honestly a problem, Matt? Unless a user is blatantly scanning tons of manga books, etc. that they own, how is having a few 'non-studio originals' problematic? If the bandwidth is a problem, RS could also make it mandatory that everyone donate and/or heavily patrol everyone that uploads images so that they are exactly the pixel size requested by the site.

There's nothing wrong with speaking your mind concerning this issue, Matt. But, by limiting members to a strict "only original studio production art" policy, you'd take away a significant degree of freedom that RS members enjoy here.
