The state of the Anime Cel collecting community.

Personally, I'm more concerned with the state of Rubberslug. We know from his post last year that Jason won't be updating this site. He'll make sure he keeps it running, and he'll fix problems like the upload bug we've had a while ago, but that's about it.

I don't like stagnation. It's like a death sentence :(

I am also worried about RS, but I don't have the technological chops to do anything about it :'( I have been contemplating re-doing my own website from scratch but the collection has become a bit of a tentacle monster as of late... Which is both a good and bad thing...

But that's exactly it JD, a lot of collectors have such extensive galleries the thought of rescanning/reuploading alone is totally discouraging. How many will be persuaded to move to another site and start all over again? Not many, that's for sure, especially those who are no longer actively collecting, but still own their collections. Those galleries will just disappear and all that data will be lost.

I know Jason said he had no intention of letting it die, and I'm sure he has back-ups, but will he be inclined to build up RS again if it truly crashes?

That is scary... I have been lately putting together a spreadsheet of my purchasing data but am only through Sailor Moon and part of CCS... And right now RS is my only back up of all that information other than e-mail which I don't even want to think about.

I wish someone with the technical chops would take up the reigns or at least offer to help, however I am not even sure Jason would be willing to give up that control as that he is willing to keep it up and is usually pretty responsive when it stops working so he obviously still cares in some fashion...

Wendy's right. Not many people would enjoy building/re-building their gallery. We have our own gallery but when we recently started the process of 'rebuilding' it, it became totally overwhelming. X_x

We debated coming back to RS, but it's nice to have a bit more control over how our stuff looks, and to know that if it dies it's our own fault and not someone else's.

RS should be monetized (so that it may continue to live). It's too important a resource to let stagnate. (Our opinion, of course ^_^)

@JadeDuo - still debating entry. we got burned out trying to rebuild our site in line with the feedback we received during the open house. more time is needed. ^_^;;
