The state of the Anime Cel collecting community.

BS. I was part of organizing one of the earliest Anime-Beta awards together with Bluehaven. Yes, I also made donations to Rubberslug. Is that what you want to hear? Does it mean I all of a sudden should not find your comments offensive anymore?
No, your comments are insulting for no reason, period.
You also keep putting words into our mouths.

Personally I do not think that calling out and insulting other collectors is the way to get people more involved with the “community” again. Besides the fact that you have no way of knowing who donated what, both present and past, and who has been helpful in what way, I think being negative about and aggressive towards other collectors will only discourage new members from posting and older members from returning. In fact, this is exactly why so many dropped out back then in the first place. The drama. Maybe you are part of the problem too?

Not everyone has the desire to be socially (inter)active within a hobby, and I don’t think anyone should be so arrogant as to think it is obligatory either. Not everyone who is a member of Rubberslug wants to be part of the “community”.

Every member here has the right to choose not to be a part, but that doesn’t mean they then have no right to express their opinions on what’s going on with the site that hosts their galleries!

It’s for the members themselves to decide how active they want to be and in what way, but a collector’s level of social participation should not be a license for others to question their dedication to this website and the hobby.

As for the “only complaining and not doing anything” part, I’m sorry for you this seems to be so frustrating that it warrants rudeness from your part, but there’s a fundamental difference between complaining and expressing concern.

Basically there’s not much I CAN do except express my concerns about the state of Rubberslug once every year.
I have no web building skills whatsoever and I certainly do not have the immediate answer. But I do still have ties with Rubberslug and cel collecting and I know that if we stay quiet, surely nothing will happen. Squeaky wheel gets the oil and posting our concerns will maybe alert Jason this is still an ongoing issue amongst some of the members here.

I do not know why you feel the need to respond so aggressively to those who do not see things the same way you do, but you can't force people to do things simply because you want them to.

You can protest as much as you want, but seeing as how the last upgrade to this site was done 5 years ago, I'd say that the writing is on the wall. If a yearly protest on the board was effective, something would have been done by now.

It is apparent to me that the options, such as creating a new site, are not favorable to you. If they were, Wendy, you would have done something more constructive with your responses during the past 2-3 pages. So, once again, we're stuck where we started, with the same old board with its occasional error notices and crashes. Nothing has been accomplished and nothing will be accomplished because the community can't agree on what to do and whom should bear the burden of the costs and time creating and managing the site would involve.

Glad we cleared that up.

And constructive how exactly? You know, I have already explained, more than once, what my objections to a completely new website are, if you still don’t know than that’s your shortcoming, not mine.

I’m done with this discussion CB, I was never your enemy but you sure treated me as one. That’s your call, but I personally think it’s sad you have adapted this bitter, holier-than-thou attitude that makes you think you can just insult whomever you please. Who exactly do you think you are?

One last thing; I couldn’t care less of what you said to me, but I honestly think you should apologize to Under9000. You were completely out of line with what you said to him.

Remember that it was Jason himself who wanted, and still wants, Rubberslug to be freely accessible to all collectors.

WOW holy crap, no wonder new collectors are staying more or less quiet, even old timers like myself don't really need the offensive remarks, and yes, I found a lot of them offensive, it all depends on how much passion you have for this hobby, if you're cel crazy on top of the world with it then you want to be involved with some of the events etc, my passion is just about gone now, and reading much of these pages of this post reminds me why…. RS is an amazing art showcase, yes it certainly has some errors etc but overall, for a site of this age, it is useable and if I was Jason i'd give a big F.U. and shut it down due to the rudeness going on with NO THANKS nor appreciation to him. I admire the cheerleading and positive vibe by a few members, that kind of attitude will help new people not shy away, but the "learn how to manage your time better" comment I found insanely offensive, it more depends on how passionate about collecting and animation art someone is, then the time element will automatically happen, if its not a high priority anymore then yes, other things will obviously move way ahead. Man some of you need to CHILL…[someone needs to get over themselves and i sure don't mean wendy who has been very reasonable,fair and matter of fact throughout these posts]

Maxidious was nice enough to comment regarding helping but if the community is this salty maybe he/she is too good for this community :p

Id seen comments in the past talking about previous drama and I thought to myself 'wtf what drama can these nerds have about cels?'...Now I get it! X)
