Anime Beta Status?

Is anyone working to renew the AB url with GoDaddy? Deadly Whispers dropped this news on the Admin team late last night, about 30 min. before the domain expired. Obviously someone needs to renew the address, but I don't own the name or account so I can't immediately do so.

Yeah, I just get the GoDaddy page. I can only say that this issue was not broached to the current administrative team until late last night. I assume someone (Magician?) is getting reminders to renew the domain, but so far as I know has not turned over the username/password needed for someone else to renew the account.

I'm waiting to hear from Rekka Alexiel, who I believe agreed to be owner/administrator. I have some administrative rights on the forum, but so far have exercised them only in minor ways.

Hey all... this is zerospace posting (betsuni is the shared name my hubby and I used to use for our RS gallery).

Magician or whomever actually owns the anime-beta.com domain is not likely just going to hand over a GoDaddy account login -- those are tied to people, not domain names. Domain names should be transferred to new ownership, which is usually a process that begins with the new owner initiating a transfer request from their registrar of choice (GoDaddy, Google, Tucows, etc etc). The name must then be unlocked for transfer by the current owner and the transfer request approved (again by the current owner). This entire process usually takes a day or two, depending. For anyone who doesn't know how to do a WhoIS lookup: Currently, the name is owned by:

Registrant Name: Alexander DuChene
Registrant Organization:
Registrant Street: 8641 W. Hampden Ave.
Registrant Street: #6-108
Registrant City: Lakewood
Registrant State/Province: Colorado
Registrant Postal Code: 80227
Registrant Country: United States
Registrant Email: aduchene@earthlink.net

I presume this is Magician. Whomever is supposed to take over ownership of the name should begin the process of registering the name and contacting him to unlock the name for transfer and then approve the transfer. This should have been done MONTHS ago, as it is a rather annoying process that isn't always smooth.

I don't know what GoDaddy's policies are, but expired names can get dicey if left for too long. Once a name is allowed to expire, sometimes companies lock them up and charge exorbitant fees to get them back. Ugly business, that is.

Your next ugly issue is going to be hosting. I thought Goldknight was in charge of that at one point, but those of you who are now supposed to be carrying the torch need to get it done! Moving a web site like beta to a new host is gonna be an ugly process (of course, if both hosting companies use CPanel on the back end, copying databases like the one behind the A-B forum & other stuff can be easier).

Just my two yen. I've done all this a bazillion times before, and it's never fun. Ganbatte.
