Anime Beta Status?

Interesting. I'd been under the impression that Magician and Rekka Alexiel (the new admin.) had negotiated this "months ago," as you put it. In any case, though I'm on the admin. team and get notices of all the private messages that come through the admin-only folders, I did not know anything about this until Deadly Whispers put up a notice of the domain expiration about a half hour before it took effect. I've never done any of this, so I can't help here. Though I do own a domain name (thus far unused) that could prove useful if nothing can be done to save the Anime-Beta domain name.

I might be able to guide you a little bit Sensei since I'm getting plenty of practice building my Jimdo website. ^_^

Y'all clearly have 3 options:

1. Get the login, passcode, and renew it. Have the owner initiate the domain transfer ownership to the current person nominated as owner.

2. Go ahead and Buy the domain from GoDaddy. (Not sure how that would work out forum-wise with all the stuff we've got on there now.)

3. Call Customer Service and Initiate Domain Transfer of Ownership and Renew GoDaddy as the hosting site. OR... go Host hunting once domain is secured and transferred to new owner.

Fees will likely be involved no matter how you look at it. Currently my hosting is free at Jimdo, for example. I can choose to upgrade to a higher tier membership, but it's going to cost a fee every month.

This can be a possible scenario for you that the owner may have to pay a monthly fee to keep Beta up and running if Free Web Hosting is not secured.

I vaguely remember mentioning that y'all MIGHT have to go Web Host Shopping or suggested we move it, even though I am not an admin. Either way we look at this, I agree Sensei that the previous owner should have delegated this task to the current nominated owner.

According to Support @ GoDaddy the owner has been receiving multiple reminder emails to renew ownership. Unfortunately, they waited til the last second to notify the current admin team.

The domain name "Anime-Beta.com" WILL be subject to applicable renewal and redemption fees.

They state that they hold ".com" web addresses for up to 42 days after the domain has expired before canceling it. I get the impression that Anime-Beta website is clearly not set to automatically renew its domain fees and ownership. (I could be wrong.) 'Redeem the domain' fees begin to incur on the 19th day in addition to what will need to be paid for renewal and hosting, if y'all are paying for hosting.

The longer the wait to get it done, the more fees will accrue.

Y'all should definitely create an account and call Customer Service to initiate domain transfer from the previous owner to the current nominated owner on the Admin Team.

Or....emergency scenario... I can do this for you guys and act as a temporary owner/mediator/holder (despite not being on the admin team.) Once secured, I'd request transfer to the new nominated current owner on the admin team. I'd work with you and the new Admin team to see if you'd want to stay at GoDaddy or go to a new Web Host entirely. My role will be strictly a Mediator position for you and the admin team.

Bottom line... either route you believe to be the best choice would work and the domain would be secured. Then Beta would be up and running again.

The Anime-Beta site was up. Now it is down. Thanks very much, Alec, for working on it. It will be back up soon, please have patience. Sensei, I think we admin/mods need to get together, asap, and make some decisions.
