Rule Against Daily Updates?

I'm not really seeing the the 1 item updaters. I'm seeing several people update 3 items at a time. I can't help but think that it's because that's all that's going to appear as an image and link on the front page--the last three items that you update.

It's kind of understandable. I've updated more than 3 items, and believe me, the last 3 of the batch always get a significantly larger number of hits. I'll admit that I've personally started doing 3 at a time. But not daily.

Meh. It doesn't really matter, in the grand scheme of things. I've personally stopped looking at the galleries that are on the front page all the time. They'll still be there tomorrow (or rather, be there again), and if I feel like looking then, I will.

I agree, Klet. I definitely think three is the preferred way to go now, because it’s just that much simpler to click the images than the titles that appear at the bottom when you mouse over.

The front page right now is all sketches… it was mentioned earlier, that that might be off putting to the cel people…(though they look pretty sweet to me!)

And, at the moment, the last entry on the front page has been up 21 hrs…

But Hajimenokizu brought up that interesting point about searching by the tags. When these particular pieces are off the front page, and/or the following Recently Updated Galleries pages, only the Naruto sketch will be covered under the current “tag” system. Even a popular series like Vampire Knight has no way to search for it, if the collector doesn’t put the series name in each individual item’s title or description. The search used to bring up individual galleries, if they had a section for a particular anime/cartoon, and I think the colorful tags were supposed to replace that, but it kinda falls short, as there are a lot more anime and cartoon titles than are listed…

I've gotten used to using Google now for this purpose. If you search for "[Series title] + Rubberslug" you get this information, whereas you can't be certain of locating all relevant galleries using the tags on the RS site. Even if the title is represented by a tag, if the gallery uses a common abbreviation (such as CCS or TNN vs Cardcaptor Sakura or Tenshi ni Narumon), the tags won't give you those links. I'm not even sure that galleries using the common English titles (Cardcaptors/I'm Gonna Be an Angel) will show up in the tags either.

Hello, I don't post often, but found this post interesting since I've noticed the same trend recently. I usually update in spurts, usually over the course of a week; though sometimes a couple of months go by without my realizing. I don't usually mind being pushed off the front page quickly since I get to see all the new art that has popped up, but it does seem like some sites are abusing the system a bit by only uploading 3 at a time every 12 hours or so. I feel bad if I start pointing fingers though since it's possible that it could just be a daily routine for them and they don't realize what they're doing, or that it could be considered poor etiquette.

I'm not too sure, but the way I look at it for my own site is that updates certainly aren't a contest. I'm happy as a clam with my collection whether I get 1 person viewing my site or 1000. End of the day, I have my site up for my own browsing and record purposes first though, so I suppose everyone has their gallery for their own reasons.

Because of this thread I felt motivated to finally go through the pile of cels I've been neglecting. I doubt there will ever be a rule as to updating but I remember long ago something being said about sponsers being on the front page longer than those that weren't.
