Counting down to the new Rubberslug

I haven't had a chance to look through all the areas yet, but my update this weekend was unproblematic. Did you fix the bug that made you log out and back in when you tried to make a thumbnail? That was the only glitch I saw.

I miss the "Top 50 popular items" link under "Account." Will that return someday?

As with others, I appreciate the time and devotion you've put into this effort. I think it is an important resource for anyone studying the nuts and bolts of this new art form. Many times it has alerted me to series that are artistically superior or are interesting in content, or both. I hope that the new avatar will be more successful in drawing visitors from outside the committed collectors' community.

Edit: PS, it would be really really nice if when I submit a reply like this, I would return to the [i]last[/i] screen in the thread instead of the [i]first[/i] post, as in Anime-Beta. I like to proofread what I have submitted before moving on.

Edit 2: PPS Neither form of mark-up works to italicize words: html markup simply disappears when I post, and BBCode appears as text, as in the PS above. Again, it would be nice to have a menu, as in Anime-Beta, where one could click to insert enhancements like italics, boldface, quotes, bullets, etc.

1) Yes, they will be 50x50 (48x48 to be exact, but you can upload 50x50 and you won't hurt it's feelings). I believe the smaller avatars are 28x28, but you can't upload these yet.

2) The graphic upload for site assets (read: non-cels/art) was a recycled bit of code. It needs to be improved and made like the item add/edit code where you can delete the images in real-time.

3) You can click on "all tags" which has more titles. What title are you looking for? Because if we don't have it and it returns more than one page of galleries, we should have it. Also, at some point in the near future the title (tag) listing should allow sort by recently updated.

Fixed the faulty redirect to mod_weblog.aspx.

As far as your gallery not showing up... I made some assumptions about how those galleries should be listed, and I think there are all sort of wrong. I'll look at it today and try to have that updating correctly for you.

I don't know what's wrong with popular items yet but that was a cut and pastey job from the old site. I'll see what I can do with it. One thing that I definitely want is more improved analytics. I've actually been collecting my own data on who hits what (not just hit counts) since last June. Not sure if or how this will be used.

Any page in the member area that was so badly, obviously hacked together from the old site is a temporary hack. just fyi. :)

Thanks! There's a "popular items" link under gallery, I think, but apparently it's not working correctly accoridng to last poster. ^_^;

The whole forum system is a bit hacky right now, but I needed something working. I definitely want to restore that ability to go directly to what you just posted as well as allow basic html in posts.

Chris:

Good news and bad news: bad news is that this (being able to put old-style font tags in names) is unlikely. I have a very good reason: it makes comparisons based on item names harder than it should be. It also makes entry of item names more prone to crazy javascript nonsense.

Now the good news: Remember when I said I wouldn't be coding a CSS editor of some kind? Okay, changing my mind on that. There should be someway to style your own gallery (i.e. pick fonts, etc.) without affecting everyone. It shouldn't be *too* hard to write up. Maybe over the next week or so... I'll give you the ability to change the style of all (future) items from one place. How does that sound?

I know there's people who have been using empty category names as dividers and stuff like that. I'm not exactly sure what to do about these yet. In my mind, that's bad, hacky data. Bad, hacky data leads to other bad things. I don't want to take away functionality when it isn't absolutely necessary, but the only kind of crazy html jobs that should be necessary are *maybe* posting media like youtube videos, etc.
