How much do we see?
You know, it kinda dawned on me that as much time as I have taken to look through galleries recently, I had to stop and ask myself, "Have I really seen everything?"
What I mean is, that yes, I look at cels in a large variety, but if I actually track how many cels that I see, taking note of how many I stop and really take the time to "see" (exposing a thumbnail for a larger image), the actual number that I see in detail is probably very smallin number. How about you?
Recently, the number of galleries here is dauting. It is great, but massive. I have time contraints because of work and family responsibilities so that I try to streamline and graze over sites now, as opposed to taking my time and gazing (all of the "glorious wonder" and detail). It is almost like the difference between reading my favorite novel and reading the newspaper. One for pleasure and the other for expediency.
To take it one step further, I have rarely gone beyond the cels sections. We have a few more areas on our sites to explore, such as, "wishlists", "about", and "feedback" pages. Am I the only one that just ignores these for the most part? I used to look through these areas a long time ago, write to the new gallery owners via feedback, etc., before there were less than 100 galleries here. But even then I found that these sections were usually empty. I looked around for galleries that had taken some effort to create a more informative gallery, because I had put some time into "filling out" these areas myself. But, I have found out then as well as now, that almost no one uses these categories to upload any information. It seems to be getting more and more to look like just posting boards around here, a la Yahoo share folder or something. Very little about the collector is displayed. A few comments of course and then it is just cels... Maybe I am asking to much, I dunno, but a little more personality goes a long way towards not just enjoying cels, but also the collector, like me, that has become ensnared with the hobby. ^-^

RE: the above snafu's, typo's, mind numbing misspells, to all of the literate folk, sorry... I am not that bad..actually (that is daunting (not dauting), too (not "to"), etc.)..okay, I need to spell check everytime!...
Living in a foreign country is defintely affecting my syntax/lexicon or whatever the hell I am trying to say.
But anyway, what I want to ask is if any of you write to one another?? RS member to RS member?
As many DBZ collectors here do you have good repore here with anyone? Not to single you out or anything, but I am kinda lonely here being one of only a handfull of real GUNNM/BA collectors beside Felicity
I know that amongest the "staff" we sometimes communicate with one another, but do any of you actual use the "feedback" sections to respond to other collectors art work?
Just curious..
I often take the time to feedback galleries and I usually get a nice reply in return. Unfortunatly, as nice as this is, I have never gotten into any lasting friendships/long running correspondences with people I've met here.
I only open the thumbnail images if a) the thumbnail doesn't give me enough information or b) it's a character or show I love and I want to savor each moment with the image... as largely as possible. This also depends on the speed of my connection. When I'm at school I click the thumbnails all the time because they load in a millisecond. At home I don't because I have dialup and it's usually not worth it.
As for checking the other sections, I do... and often. Especially wishlists. I have an amazing capability to remember people's wishlist/images... (as opposed to my inability to remember things for tests/school.. etc). Even if people don't fill out their "About" sections.. they usually manage to make a wishlist.. because, well, we ALL want more cels. :)
I send feedback regularly enough. I like to welcome new members, or textually drool over people's collections from time to time.
So basically, I don't think that these pages are useless. I think that some people use them more than others, and some people LOOK more than others. It's just relative I suppose.
It's just like this forum, maybe 15% (that's being generous) of the total members use it. Doesn't mean it's useless, it's just not as popular as say... the "meat" of the site/what it is made for - cels.

E, don't be lonely! :)
I really like the about sections. Even though mine is more about my collecting, I love to read about other folks and see pictures they may post. It really does add a lot of personality to the page and makes it stick to the memory.
I also try to send feedback. I used to be very shy about it, but I'm trying to come out of my shell a bit more. I especially like the feedback because I manage to sound like a dork on forums besides being shy about them. The feedback gives me a chance to chat with a fellow collector in a way that's more comfortable. Like anything dealing with people, it's hit and miss, but overall I've met some very nice collectors. And even if we don't exchange more than a few compliments, well, the compliments are always a bright spot in my day.
That being said, I do wish I had more time to explore RS galleries. Especially lately, I'm in a time crunch so I only get to skim. I'm hoping to get more time to look when vacation rolls around.
