i am so sad......
Thank you for the words of wisdom Mokman! i appreciate your help in future bids. for the rest of you fellow cel fans who responded, thanks for the support! ya, i guess you win some and you lose some. well....i still wish i could of known i was outbid....maybe next time i wont low ball the bid. It just sucks knowing that I had a much deeper pocket to continue the bid, but because of Rinkya's system i lost(BTW im not blaming rinkya, it is what it is)....well now i move on, and continue the search.. well thanks again fellas! hopefully this year's anime expo will have some beautiful ones available :)

Rusted180 there is two ways you could have known at the time that you had been outbid. Though with the time left in this particular auction I don't know if you would have had enough time to respond with a new bid. First, when you try to place a bid and another Rinya user has already bid higher it will say something like, "Your bid has been rejected. You have been outbid by Rinkya user-" and then the name of the other user. Second, open another window during the auction and log into Rinkya. Go to your bid history and the current auction will be there (only if you have already bid on it). There will be a link there that says something like "update status". Clicking on this will open a small window with information about the auction including the current high bidder. If it is a Rinkya bidder it will also list the user's name. You can see if it is you or not. Refresh this window often during the auction to see where you stand. I personally only use this window to check the high bidder on an auction, never the YJ listing itself for exactly the problem you are talking about.
I remember the days I used to stay up in the middle of the night, locked in auction-combat with some faceless opponent sniping from who-knows-where.
There?s lots of good advice here, but let me add my own philosophy:
Decide the absolute MOST you are willing to spend on an item, bid it, then go to bed. Sleep well. When you wake up, you will have either won or lost.
If you won, great. You got the item, AND at a price you were willing to pay.
If you lost, it?s only because someone else out there was really REALLY nuts. At the very least, you made them over-pay for it. You also have more money for the next auction, and you?re sleeping much better than the other guy.
This is harder with MACROSS than others, because MACROSS tends to bring out some big spenders. MACROSS art of even mediocre quality will sometimes command prices that will leave you scratching your head.
As others have said, be choosey and be patient. The last thing you want is an over-priced cel collection of dubious quality.
Good hunting!!!
