Beware !!

To answer WC's question.

Besides that anyone who it is proven to violate the rules in the shop disappearing so they can no longer do any business here for on this we have a 1 strike & your out policy.

Jason explained it clearly:
"Why do we funnel sales towards the cel sales market area we have on this site? Because to access that feature of this site as a seller, we require a small donation. That donation helps identify sellers with real identities and in most cases home addresses. Very, very few individuals are tempted to do unsavory things when they not anonymous to a trusted third party (in this case, us)."

Those who commit fraud here will know that their personal info will be given to those who can follow up with the proper authorities.

Has there ever been a situation where you (RS) has had to "contact the proper authorities"?

Yes but you can understand I can't discuss it.

Oh certainly. I was not asking for specifics. I was just wondering if a situation arose where something had to be done. I'm glad to know you guys were able to do something, makes me feel safer.

One last thought about a thread dedicated to bad sellers. The cel community is small and we tend to stick together. Look out for one another and what not. If I bought a cel off YJ from a bad seller, shouldn't I be able to warn others? There have been threads about fake cels, for instance. Where the transaction takes place isn't nearly as important as the information to "stay away" is.

Even if you bought a cel through eBay, warning others about a bad seller is important and really does merit its own thread. I understand the no sale policy on RS. No complaints about that, I think it's a wonderful thing. But, admittedly, you know transactions take place elsewhere. Therefore, why can't we discuss those things which might negatively effect others?

It doesn't necessarily have to be a blacklist but there should be some outlet for us to discuss sellers, as a community. Chances are, if a seller is bad, more than one buyer has had a problem with them and would want to talk about their experience.

Anyway, just a thought.

I believe JWR was saying that an official "blacklist" maintained by mods or RSers would not be supported, not that "buyer/seller beware" situations not be discussed. In other words, if I had a bad cel sale with Mr. Bad Seller, I can start a thread outlining the events and warning others. But Mr. Bad Seller would not be put on a Rubberslug Blacklist, that mods would have to maintain.

Anyway, that's how I read it. Please correct me, if I've misread the thread.
