Cels in cel books

For cels another reason why I advocate cutting a corner on the cel bag is to help push out the excess air. I've noticed whenever I don't do this the entire celbook becomes bulkier than it needs to be. Also, if you cut a corner on the cel bag I've never seen the acetate discolor.

But, I imagine it might be possible for backgrounds and dougas since they are paperbased. One question I have is how long would it take before discoloration occurs? Thanks!

well, all my cels are from 1988 and none of the paint has discoloured really. only one, which appears to have been framed cheaply at one point in its life and left in the sun.
some have some line fading, but again this is due to bad care.
so what, theyre going on twenty years old?
i think if you care for them properly they should really last a lifetime...i hope so anyway :D

Post a pic of the damaged cel you are referring to, or a link to it in your gallery so we can all examine it.

yeah sure!
actually i have a good comparison between the damaged one and a similar less damaged one

has some bad line fade. but still looks okay. the colours are still very strong.

its
an oversized cel, which was partically stuck to a reproduction background. even after this lack of care, the damage is only slightly faded lines.

damaged one

this
was totally stuck to its sketch. to the point where i damaged the sketch removing it :(
practically no lines at all. colours have been bleached by the sun. you cant really see it in the scan but a lot of the red has bled into some of the other colours. looks *very* ugly in person
