Favorite 16 bit game that got'ya hooked?
I remember going through a real bad 16 bit video game phase with Super Nintendo =)
I loved "Super Metroid". I still think it is one of my favorite 2D games of all time to play alone in the dark with Samus!

Got any favorite old school games?

I still have almost all my old SNES favorites.
The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past and Super Metroid were the ones I could not put down. Zelda's opening sequence had me hooked from the start.
Later on there were some decent RPGs, like Chrono Trigger and FFVI. I also enjoyed Actraiser and Starfox.
My significant other and I have a whole bag of Super NES games, and even a few for the old Super Famicom (the Ganbare Goemon series and Chatting Parodious).
I started out playing the old Infocom text adventure games starting 1st on a Commodore Vic20 then to a Commodore 64.
Games like Zork 1,2&3 , Starcross , Planetfall , Suspended & Infidel took up many a day and night drawing maps, keeping notes while using one's imagimation to picture what was described in typed words on the screen.
I still have the old Nintendo console and I play good 'ol Mario Bros. I also love Duck Hunt and Bionic Commando. I could never conquer B.C. but my sister was a pro at it. Ahh, I miss those carefree days!
P.S. Tetris still is my fave!
Nothing can beat those old games that I used to play over and over again. My all time favourite 'old school' game is Javanoid. It used to be on the very first Nintendo. I loved it so much. It would get really annoying when you had one block left. Grrrr. Then we got the Super Nintendo. My fav game on that would have to be Mario Kart. The good ol days.
Ooooo Tetris is one of my favs too. My dad used to be awsome at it.
