Collection size and how did you start?

Well this didn't get any play in my weblog so I guess I will post it here. How many pieces do you all have in your collection and how did you get started?

I have been cel collecting now for about 7 months and I think my collection has grown nicely. I had never realized why I was dissatisfied with collecting other mundane items related to Macross until I walked into a cel dealers booth on a whim on the last day of a convention to see if they had anything from Macross. They did and I was blown away by what I saw! I bought my first cel right there on the spot, and with money beyond what I had put away to spend at the convention I might add. And 7 months later the rest is history.

My collection currently contains about 100 pieces not counting cels or douga that are stuck to other items. I was lucky to find 2 lots of multiple items and a fair number of my cels have douga with them. My next great crusade is to find some original backgrounds from Macross. Not just trees or sky, but something that is immediately recognizable as Macross. I have only ever seen backgrounds like this in a private Japanese collectors website and in an auction that I lost in the last 20 seconds of bidding. I fear this may be a very long quest since there are always considerably fewer backgrounds produced than cels.

It's all Tamahome's fault. I was cruising ebay for "Tamahome" and ran into this cel...
It started slowly and cheaply, and has been, actually, slower but more expensive lately. There was a while, maybe six months after getting started, that I was buying several each month... um... now I buy one that takes me a month to pay off... XD

Cels: ~83
Rilezu: 4
Paper: more than the 35 I have posted
Fan Cels: 2
Repros: 2

And that doesn't count the stuff waiting at celga, or the dream Ranma and Juliet cel winging it's way to me shortly!

cels and lay-out: about 30 or so??? (I know I do not have so many :P)

BGs: about 30? (I have not counted before....)

The reason I started:
I really wanted to collect cels since I was in a high school in Japan but I just did not have $$... ^^;;

So as soon as I got a job last summer I started collecting them ^_^ (since the last August).

Also I just looooooooooooooooove RK seisouhen so much so now I am concentrating collecting RK seisouhen ^_^

well my collection amounts to about 80 cels plus i have loads of douga but I dont really considert myself a douga collector.

I fell into collecting cels really. I just saw a cel of Krillin on ebay and thought it was cool so I decided to buy it (I still have this cel in my gallery today) now 2 and a half years later Im very happy but very poor.
