Cels:Do you display, frame or store 'em?

Since this seemed like a good topic to find out what other collectors are really doing with their cels, I decided to post this weblog topic I had onto this forum.

"Since we're all collectors or fans of animation enough that we buy cels, what do you end up doing with them? Do you collect them and store them away only to look at them from time to time in a cel folder, do you mount and frame them to display in your home in order to enjoy them daily, or do you just have them lying around the house willy nilly having friends or family see your latest acquisition?"

Right now I have most of my cels in a little clear plastic art folder while I try and find a good display case for them. I had two of my oversized cels framed, though I'm planning to frame my fave cels with original backgrounds.

Mine are tucked away in a dark closet at any given time in cel books.

In fact, if it were not for RS, all proof that I even owned cels would be lost.

Sad but true.

I keep most of my cels in a dark closet in cel books hung from hangers too.
I do have a group of cels framed on a wall. Also I do try to rotate cels into and out of the frames on a regular basis. No use spending all that cash and not personally enjoying the plastic!

And thank the cel gods for Rubberslug! We can enjoy all our cels in the light of day.

I admit it, mine are usually in the dark closet as well. I have two small children who often have sticky hands. It's safer for my cels and my sanity that way. But I still take them down at least once a week to check them for moisture, or other damaging effects.

I'm guessing we're in the minority here, but...
All of our cels are currently framed and up on the walls. Do we risk damage that way? Yeah, but we never got into cel collecting with the idea of hiding them away in a binder.
We're very careful about where our cels are placed, and those that are in the more "dangerous" places are hidden behind plexi instead of glass. Of course all of the framing materials we use are acid free and none of our cels hang in direct light.
Because our usable wall space is limited, framing our cels helps us to keep our collection more managable, too. Seems you don' t have as much of a desire to blow huge sums of cash on cels when you have no where to put 'em :)
