Unpainted faces

Here you go Vapalla the page of FX stuff in a scene to make a few sparkles on a scene shot or 1/16th of a second of the show.

Thanks so much! That makes things a little clearer. I actually own two cels that are attached to FX paper with the hole piercing you illustrated:

This
one, from Devilman Lady (Devillady) has holes at the bottom of her hair. In the final scene, she is standing in a doorway with light from the other room glowing around her.

This
one from Tenshi ni Narumon, has a hole behind the egg that hatches into Noelle. The egg glows in the scene.

Both of these scenes were relatively brief, but the scene from Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust went on for some time (special effect wise). and must have taken quite a lot of time to create!

Yea thats why it takes 3 to 4 years to make a full blown movie with alot of FX.
1/16 of a second times number of FX or exposures x times 16 for one second x times 60 seconds for one minute x times 60 minutes for one hours worth of a show.
And thats just the filming that don't count the drawings, cel prep and background painting and all the storyboard work and a hundred other things that it takes to make one of these shows.
So next time you look at your cels just think how much work went in to making it so it won't hurt so much next time you have to pay alot for your next cel you buy.
Just a little food for thought...

Hello, shadowcat7
The main body of your cel,it's what's called a (Hold) cel and the other face cels are called overlays and they are to save production time therefor money when making this show.
The Hold cels are a little bit rarer do to the fact they are used for alot longer than most other cels in the scene.
