Unpainted faces
I have several cels with unpainted faces. They are from a number of different series. I just wanted to know if anyone knows why they are made that way. (I hope this isn't a stupid question!)
I would need to see an example but what you may have is a case where there is the main base cel in which other cels are placed on top to show talking or other facial expressions. This is done to save time having not to make a whole cel.
I have an example of this posted on my gallery in the Ai Yori Aoshi Genga section.
Ok I see,
The only idea that comes to me would be that they wanted the face color consistant without the brushing over of paint that sometimes may interfere with the finer detail of the faces on such a close in shot that has no other background shown. Of course it could also be a way of speeding up the production of the cel.
Hopefully others may know the exact answer as to why. Maybe Roy at Backlotanimation might know for he has a lot more experience then I do.
