Honestly I've only thrown out ice cream once in my entire life. Frost bitten to hell, damn cookies and cream was entirely ruined! I should've gotten a refund it was a NEW gallon. But generally, my test is this... if it tastes bad, smells funny or changes color... into the trash you shall go! This applies ot all perishables.

You're right, although I have to admit I do sometimes make exceptions. Like, a delicious looking duck leg... I squeezed my nose shut, spiced the hell out of it and slammed it in the oven. Tasted good, but I got a diary.
