i scream, you scream
I throw out icecream only after no one else in my family wishes to eat it, which never happens.
Hmmm..does ice cream go bad? I'm not sure, I associate going bad with rotting...For the most part I think if it's kept properly wrapped, it keeps for at least a couple of months....but I'm a college students...soooo...I think most things keep for months...that don't really tend to.
Uggh! Frost- bitten ice cream!
I never knoew there was such a thing, until I actually was desperate to eat it and nearly barfed. Ick, ick, ick.
Pathogenic bacteria generally don't grow at temperatures below freezing, so as long as the ice cream's been kept frozen, eating it shouldn't make you sick.
Flavor and texture are a different matter, as has been pointed out ... but if it still tastes good, there's no reason to throw it out.
As soon as I think it's no longer tasty or healthy. On the other hand, I have such a strong stomach, you can't poison me with anything, not even salmonella-infested icecream XD
There are a few signs that show you should renounce to eating it:
1. When its darkening. Like, white vanilla turning yellow.
2. When it tastes like sour milk or old butter.
3. When it smells like sour milk or old butter.
4. When it's fluent. Do NOT refrigerate it.
5. Frost-bitten ice-cream. Eeew indeed.
I know it hurts to throw away tasty stuff, but think of the consequences. It always tastes best when consumed with peace of mind, knowing you won't get a diarrhea ;)
