Hello Kc
Cels are the artwork that are used to make a cartoon, anime or movie.
They are made one at a time by hand for the most part.some are now made by computer.
It takes 16-24 cels to make one sec. of a show.
The cel is a acetate or plastic sheet that has lines drawn on one side and is painted or filled in on the back with paint almost like paint by numbers.
The word cel is short for cellulose nitrate, It is what the sheets were made from before celluloid acetate or plastic sheets were made.
Cels are taken and layed on a painted background one at a time and a pic is taken one after another to make the toon move or whatever the action is.
The word cel has been misused over the years and most folks that don't collect cels think that cels are just the pics of the shows and not the real artwork that was used to make these shows.
I would like to send you a free cel to show you what they look like and it can be the start of your cel collection on Rubberslug, I like to see new folks get into cel collecting it is very fun.
MY Gallery is Backlotanimation go to my gallery and send me your address in my feedback link and I will send you your first cel for free.
I hope this helps you out some, Everyone must start there collection somewere.
Not everyone here is a expert they all started out not knowing what this type of artwork is at first. most of them forget they to had to start not knowing a thing about cels also.

Yah, Roy would be correct. However, unlike the other new members we normally ban instantly for uploading screen caps and artbook images, you seem to have a sincere desire to learn about what we do here.

Just to stay consistent with policy, I've closed your gallery while we sort this out. This isn't a bad thing! We're not doing this to be mean. Allow me to explain...

We have to be strict across the board in the interest of fairness. When you start your collection -- one cel or piece of production artwork is a perfect start -- then please feel free to reopen your site. Don't forget that before you reopen, we'll have to ask that you remove the screen caps and artbook images and anything else that isn't really original production art.

Some of the links on this page might explain cels in more detail:

Of
course, there's always a chance that a mod might pass over your site and give it the banning stick. Sorry if it seems a little offensive, but they're folllowing guidelines we collectively established to be very, very stringent with banning anything that is off-topic.

One side note: your weblog will be disabled while your gallery is closed. We'll save all your work you've already done and it'll be available when you're ready to open your gallery. You'll still be able to post to the forum with your gallery closed.

Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope our policies make some sort of sense, apologies in advance if they seem awkward.

Good point Jason.
I was trying to help KC out a little before the banning stick got used.
Kc seems very nice and good person to introduce to the wonderful world of cel collecting and if kc can setup a site as nice as they did, He/she should do well in the cel collecting part of this hobby. With a little research on the subject.
Kc send me your address and I'll help you to get started in the wonderful world of Production cel collecting.
Kc, Jason is right he must follow the rules that are set out for all of us here on rubberslug, He is the person who runs this site and trys to be fair with everyone here.
So lets get you on your way to a nice collection and then you can open your site back up with the real Production artwork from some of the shows you like.
