What is the exact definition of a cel?
how do the legal issues work with cel collecting? Am new to this area and have no idea how you can get or use cels. Can you just use backgrounds for your own art, or what? Dont want to annoy anyone before i start!
Hello,Xera
Cels are like fine art they are one of a kind,You can own the cel, drawing, background or any of the art used to make the show (BUT) you do not own the rights to the cels ect.
In other words you can not make copies to sell or market in anyway shape or form.
The art itself is copyrighted but you can own the artwork that was sold by the production company to the public.
It would be nice if you had the background the cel was shot on but if you have a Production cel that does not have one you can put your own background to make your Production cels look nice, but make sure you say this on your gallery page.
This site is for (Production Cel) art not home made art or pic out of books or sceencaps just for your info.
If you go to the first page of this thread Noisywalrus has put a link to just about all the info you may be looking for about how to get yourself some production art.
Thanks very much for asking about this type of art before you get started.
I hope you make a nice gallery when you get started on your own gallery.
Have fun.
