i like the blog feture

Well, I've activated mine and reposted some stuff from my main gallery. It's a nice, simple interface and I like it a lot, even though I don't plan to use it much. ^^;

I do have a Livejournal, though, which I update daily, and thought I'd suggest some of my favorite LJ features for consideration:

-Icons. I'm not kidding- you'd be surpised how many people love icons, and how serious they can be about them. I've actually paid extra on my LJ account to be allowed to have 50 icons rather than 10, and I use ALL of them.

-Comments. Let people comment on the individual entries. This is a standard feature of nearly all online journals.

-Friends page. LJ, and all the LJ spin-offs, allow you to have your favorite LJs feed into one mssive compilation page-- this lets you keep up with all your friends' LJs without having to check 50 different pages. It's great!

Yeah, the plan is to implement three large additions to the weblogs, which is why they're listed as a "temporary" section.

One is comments, which is a toggle on/off. I had to essentially rewrite the gallery layouts to make this happen. It's done, but it just needs to be hooked up. Just added another two RL projects to the work queue today, so RS hasn't been getting much lovin' lately.

The second was the ability to syndicate the "comments" section of each weblog entry to the forum, so people could see all weblog entries in one convenient place. The "temporary weblog section" will most likely turn into some combination of "last updated weblogs and/or forum posts".

Finally, implementing personal picture pages with limited numbers of pictures specifically to support the weblogs... but the picture pages will also be stand-alone parts of your personal gallery. You'll be able to insert pictures from your gallery (and cels, most likely) into your weblog.

Syndicating your friends' weblog entries across your own site is not a bad idea at all. I'll probably look at getting that done as well.

I do need an icon set for both the forums and the weblogs. Just a crapload of smilies. Preferebly (somehow) anime or cel collecting themed smilies.

Not all of this will get done immediately, due to sales being a true priority after basic weblog + picture stuff gets up to help in moderating sites. After basic weblog functionality is complete, I'm going to look at sales but will return to weblogs once a sales section is complete.
