weblog

I tried entering a post and this is what I got:

"Server Error in '/' Application.

A potentially dangerous Request Form Value was detected from the client....."

More mumbo jumbo after that. Sorry.

I got the same error messages, but when I hit the "back" button on my browser, I got the correct page I needed to input stuff. Then I got another error page when I was done entering text and went to 'post' or whatever. But, again, I just hit the 'back' button and everything was fine again. The weblog shows up on all the pages where it should be, and seems to be working fine.

I've disabled that particular error. HTML should work now. However, HTML will only display on your gallery page and not in the weblog editor or in the "leave comments" page (coming soon).

Forum code works in your weblog. Think of the weblog as being able to create a forum thread on your own webpage.

Comments are being worked on. (I had to rewrite everyone's gallery in a new language.... took an extra day.) Options will include "allow feedback" and "allow anonymous feedback". The first will require a validated RS login.

On the feedback page, any HTML you use in your weblog will not be active **if you want to require a login to leave comments**. There are some technical reasons for this, the main one being security.

The following is a brief "reason" discussion, which is totally skippable if you trust me. =)

Any web forum that allows pure HTML in public areas (user-contributed content like message boards) is unsafe. If it seems like there are likely many unsafe websites out there, you are correct. I can steal your site login from any of those sites. Period. The reason why we allow HTML on your own personal web pages is, to make a long story short, the only person you can gimp is yourself by using bad and/or "nefarious" HTML or Javascript.

If we were to allow straight HTML in say, this forum, it would be a Very Bad Thing. I do **not** want to wake up one day to find out a security problem with my code has cost someone their gallery.

Nah, I need to make it so RS can handle it. It's not like you're the only one. There's probably some underlying reason as to why this happens. That's the reason (weird characters) the last issue happened when you were getting booted back to the main page.

I didn't look at that yesterday, but I'll try to get to it sometime today. I'm trying to finish up "weblog comments" by tonight. I'm about half done. Once I do that I can try to make it so that weblogs can cross-post to the forum so everyone can see what I'm trying to explain above.
